From previous posts you may see that the spare tire kite (with a tire) is not available in the US. Only Canada. I did some calling around and with shipping it would cost over $380 to get the actual kit for the Veloster. Did some more research and the spare tire kit from 2011-2012 Elantra will work on the Veloster and the kit fits in the Veloster spare tire well. I found the kit without the actual tire with (rim, jack, styrofoam insert, lug wrench, and spare lug nuts) on ebay for $132 with shipping, bought the tire from tire rack with shipping for $85 (tire size is T125/80D15). I have friend in auto shop that can mount for me so the whole setup was $217. Now I can drive at night on my rural roads without worrying about getting stranded.

Hope this info will help out some of you other Veloster owners out there who will be obsessive compulsive like me to have a spare.

yeah its a dealership item too....so you can go straight to the dealership and buy it. They should also be stocking the tire. So when you pick it up it will be all mounted and balanced.

I just got a dark gray veloster with the dct trans here in Springfield, ma and, like you, couldn't stand driving without a spare. I picked up the elantra donut kit without the tire from the dealer for $175. I work in a tire shop so, through a lot of homework and a little luck, i found the tire in the corner of a warehouse in vermont that nobody there even knew about for $40 and mounted it myself. Thanks for the insight, i also now may enjoy my new Veloster complete with a spare

I'll be moving this thread to the appropriate section.

Would this be the kit you are referring to specifically?

2011 2012 Hyundai Elantra Spare Tire Kit Limited GLS Sedan Genuine Factory OEM | eBay

Could anyone post a link to the tire on Tirerack? I can't seem to find it using their search.
That will work. Elantra wheel specs are the same. Without looking at TireRack, I'm sure a tire can be purchased anywhere. That ebay seller probably has them too.
how much are these kits with the Elantra spare tire?
$100.99 according to the link. You're in Canada so you don't even need one.

I called the company that sold this kit (on ebay) and was told they in fact DO NOT FIT THE VELOSTER!! The foam insert ends up sitting to high for the mat to go back down! I was told they will be coming out with a kit for the Veloster (by Hyundai) by the first of this year. They expect it will be about the same money as the Elantra kit is or they hope it will be. He told me that a lot of people are bitching about no spare so I will wait for the right kit >>

Does the Elantra donut with the tire mounted fit in the veloster's spare titre well? And does the Elantra kit styrofoam insert also fit with the tire mounted on the donut rim?

Finally, has anyone actually mounted the Elantra doinut spare on the veloster and drove any distance with it on? If yes, how did it drive? I can't fathom having the 18s on my Veloster and putting on a 15 or 16 inch spare. If I have a complete mental block, do let me know. Thanks!

As much as I hate them, why wasn't a "doughnut" spare offered -- it would certainly have been better than nothing? The reason, though, is that Hyundai did not want ANY extra weight reducing MPG's. That is very lame. So, rather than looking for a full size spare, is the doughnut spare a better solution? (Have you ever seen an 18 inch doughnut? - LOL).

Hahaa I know, I can just picture a Veloster tooling down the road on 3 18" Wheels and a 15" hanging there in the air...I know it wouldn't happen but still a funny thought.
My SVX is full size spare and never needed it in 20 years. I will be looking at getting some winter wheels & tires (yeah yeah you FL people) and maybe throw one in for really long trips or pick up something, maybe not. I do have road hazzard on mine and with road assistance just hope for the best.
