Does anyone know how to take that big ugly H of the handle on the rear hatch - without messing up the back-up camera lens? Thanks.

Its probably screwed on from the inside. Open the hatch and pop of the plastic trim on the inside of the hatch and see whats behind the emblem and camera.

When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts,
to prevent damage.
• Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Remove the following items:
A. Tail gate center trim
B. Tail gate trim
2. Disconnect the tail gate outside handle connector (A).
3. Loosen the tail gate outside handle mounting nuts.

Removing Rear Emblem

Thanks; very helpful. Those pieces you are talking about removing, are they outside the hatch or inside? And once you get to removing the big ugly H, is it screwed, glued or riveted on?

Thanks again.

A. To each their own, not sure why you would want to debadge the H, but again to each their own.
B. Most likely it is just held on with 3M tape and as someone previously mentioned simply requires Fishing Line and a low heat Hair Dryer to easily be removed.

I will be doing this tomorrow so I will confirm the steps then.

Again there is a thread about removing this badge. It is held on by three studs which are accessed from behind the tailgate handle. You need to remove you lower inside hatch trim panel, remove the hatch handle and one or two more things inside. There are THREE studs one is hidden behind another part. The only badge on the Veloster held on by tape is the word Veloster across the rear. If you pry either of the H off you will break something. Keep in mind this also means if you remove the badge you will have holes.

The rear H is held on by just 3M double sided tape. The front is held on by 2 posts and no adhesive. A hair dryer to soften the adhesive and a couple of plastic cable ties pushed underneath to give you something to pull on will get it off really easily

Just took mine off last week. Slide a zip tie under the middle section of the H. Work the zip tie around to loosen the adhesive. Heating the emblem lightly with a heat gun will help. Slide another zip tie under the other side of the middle of the H. Pull out lightly and the emblem will come off.

The last guy is right. No need to take the hatch trim off!!!! It's held on with adhesive and two 'alignment' prongs. I'd heat it up a bit and use some dental floss worked in behind....slide it behind to loosen the adhesive. It should come right off. Don't mess with removing anything from the inside...some of these guys on here don't know what their posting.

I am not sure, but maybe the base car without the camera is different. When I removed mine to black chrome it it was held on by 3 studs with nuts inside the hatch.

I've never liked chrome emblems. I'd probably keep it, but paint it flat black or silver.

is the "veloster" badge just taped on or does it have pegs too? I've only seen mention of the H badges.

I might plasti-dip the emblems to give them a different look but no debadging here. I actually want to add a badge.. the red "GDi" one EU markets get.

went to plastidip my emblems earlier and all went well except the H on the rear, kept getting one bit that wanted to lift off when removing the excess. so, i'm thinking of removing it to paint it off the car. my problem comes from conflicting answers in this thread. my v is tech/style and has the back up cam. is the H just taped on or do i have to get at it from inside the hatch? and if i have to go from the inside, how does one remove the trim from in there?
