So, Regional decided that they weren't going to offer to repurchase the vehicle from me. They said because it was still being repaired, they wouldn't do anything about it. I'm going to be sending my Lemon Law request form tomorrow. It's a shame it had to come to this. I told them I'd pursue the Lemon Law if they didn't come up with a deal by Friday.

This is going to sound lame, but, we live in a society where the only way to get stuff done is through social media. I personally hate these types of posts, but I posted on Hyundai's Facebook page.

If you felt like helping a guy out, please go here to my post, and like it or reshare it. I want to put pressure on them. The more people who see this, the better. I literally do not have the time to put into this currently--I'm a student, and I need a good, fuel-efficient car. I really want them to repurchase it from me more than anything (I was actually told by Regional that repurchasing is easier for them).

If you don't want anything to do with my Facebook post, thats fine--as you all have a Hyundai, and probably don't want to draw light to it. I don't blame you.

I finally got my car back today. After seven consecutive weeks, I finally got my Veloster Turbo back.

Here's what they replaced:
  • Complete Fuel Pump
  • Clamp-hose
  • Valve-purge control
  • Valve-purge control solenoid
  • Pump assembly
  • Wiring Assembly - front
The Wiring Assembly is apparently what fixed it.

It's a shame, because next Tuesday was the last chance they had to repurchase the car--really didn't think they'd fix it. Unfortuantly for them, the next issue I have with the car goes straight to state-level arbitration.

Wow, thanks for the update. I really hope they fixed it right for you this time, as I know how much of a drain and distraction this has been on your school. But you're doing the right thing and I'm clapping and cheering for the dedication and follow thru you have had. If the car give you one single problem, take it straight up to the next milestone in the process. And consult with your lawyer again too, probably now is a good time too, so you can run thru some what if scenarios, things like how long the warranty on this work is good for, and how long you have to make a follow up complaint so that the time line is considered contiguous and you don't have to start the 7 weeks all over again. Stuff like that. Again, commending you for sticking with it, and don't relent just yet, make sure the work done is solid and fixed the issue. Best wishes bro...

This issue started about a month ago. While accelerating, it feels like the power is "slipping" away from the accelerator; when I'm idling, the car is shaking in waves (coming and going) while the RPMs increase and decrease ~500rpm--idling is rough. The check engine light flashes on/off, (i.e., on, off, on, off, then stays off). Occasionally, the check engine light will stay on and flash, but will return to "on" after that.

This issue arose about a month ago. Here is what happened at each dealership visit (in order):
1) I took it to a Hyundai dealership, they said there was a misfire, and they reset the error.
2) Issue happened a few weeks after the first visit; I returned, and they said there was another misfire, but updated my ECU (there was an update) and reset the error.
3) Issue came back less than one week after the second visit; returned, was told there was another misfire. They ran some tests, and found that the fuel failed the "water separation test" and that the fuel injector may need to be replaced. They advised that I put in premium fuel for the next few tanks. They drove 53 miles in the car and the issue didn't occur again. This happened yesterday.

As of this morning, I drove ~30 miles, and the engine light is back on with all the symptoms I described above.

So now I have to bring it back for a FOURTH time. I'm not convinced it has something to do with fuel though; I've owned a 2010/2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T, and I've used nothing but regular fuel from the same source (Kroger). My car is less than 6 months old (I got it in October).

Anyone have any idea whats going on? Similar issues? etc? This is getting frustrating.

Have you checked the idle control module?

I have had a similar issue where I accelerate the turbo kicks in too hard and it loses power turn off the car turn it back on and it runs fine

That's never gonna happen - there is no system except the BOV that controls the turbo short of your foot on the throttle.

What you experienced was you car going into LIMP MODE, which is an ECU function designed to protect the engine from blowing up.

I was told it was a software for the turbo issue and there is in fact a recall on it . I was hoping there would be information on it to see if it corrected the issue . Does anyone else have any information on this recall issue

with the 13 turbos what was the issue
A recall to reprogram the ECU.
BTW, Try a top tier gas, Kroger is not top tier Go Shell, Chevron or the like. Yes premium does help

I LITERALLY just finished paying $5000k from an engine rebuild from this exact same issue, plus the several weeks it was in the mechanics for.

First shop I went to for the lagging acceleration + engine light aid couldn't find the misfire, so they just rearranged spark plugs.
Lasted a day or two before it happened again, eventually it ended up making this consistent with the RPM ticking noise, took it to a different mechanic and he had a look and said he had to spend a day on it to see under the head to determine where the ticking noise was. = $1500 He also completed a proper service and replaced a bunch of standard **** that should of been replaced a long time go (DONT TRUST BIG COMPANY MECHANICS).

After further inspection:
Cause of the ticking was a whole bent intake valve, he neeeded to ship new parts in and it was going to be a big job.

$5-6k later..

I had a non-turbo Veloster before the SR Turbo for years without an issue, apparrently Hyundai chucks on a massive Turbo onto a standard engine, which is known to mee now is a common issue, the engine parts just cant keep up with it and it breaks.
Also had a shitlonne of carbonne throughout the engine too

Hello all, I realize this is a older post but because I have a 2017 Hyundai Veloster turbo, I am having the same issue which brought me to this feet, I have tried putting techron in my tank as well as the premium gas which seems to have helped, I'm also concerned because I see a lot of you have had this transmission issue. When I first bought the car I brought it into the dealership and they told me I needed to learn how to drive the car because it was a dual transmission and once I figure it out I'll be fine. Well, the reason I brought it in was because a few days after I purchased it, I would push on the gas and the car wouldn't go it would hesitate and then take off eventually, or not, it's scary when you're making a turn in front of cars that are coming at you and the car won't respond. I have learned that when this happens, if I take my foot off the gas and let it do whatever it needs to do and then push on it, it will go but when cars are barreling down on you it's still scary, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and I'm also wondering to the original poster of the feed what ended up happening to your Veloster, did they finally fix it and you had or have the car still and it's been running great? Anyway I would appreciate anybody that had any advice or knowledge or the same issues and what they did for their car, Thanks again for any help!!

I suggest to give it time, do as the dealer suggested. It sounds to me you have had this car for only a short time.
