I believe another member here has stated that it may be August which was stated on Hyundaithinktank.com At least I am hoping for that and hope we will have some news from hyundai.com and vehicle making option on the site anytime now.

 

I hate to say it but September seems to be realistic to me. Since January I have been excited to see one of these on the road. We had pic's of one that was on the road about a month or 2 ago.

Seems like some places already have them or Hyundai sent out a few for testing.

 

FWIW, I'm also guessing August/September.

 

well the hyundai website is still saying "summer 2011" as the release for the veloster, and hyundai has been pretty good at keeping their word on that kind of thing in the past, i believe. to me, september is autumn, so i'm guessing and hoping that an august release is likely.

 

Funny how so many people (myself included) views September as Autumn when actually the first three weeks are Summer and only the last week Autumn. I suppose if a September release were to happen, they technically could still be making their "Summer 2011" debut. That said, I'm hoping for August too!

A real production version on the street. I'm locating at the Markham of Canada. There is a Hyundai Corp. head office around here. Last week when i was driving around near this office, i saw a real RED Veloster driven by a CEO look like guy. He was driving out of their office street and seemed going back home. The license plate was a normal Ontario official one. Not a testing license. This Veloster was not a top option model cause i noticed the wheel didn't have the same color of red. Also the door handle was chrome. Really make me hot by the first time watching the real Veloster on the street.

 

I just got this pic from a friend who works at a hyundai dealer in Indianapolis, IN. He was visiting a dealer in Cincinatti and saw this.. apparently 1 of 3 in the US. Sorry for the crappy cell phone photo.

 

I think September is it. Hyundai USA twitter said "late summer to early fall". This is like being starved before going into a restaurant. I am so Veloster hungry by then I will want EVERY option & upgrade!!

I wonder what Veloster upgrades and accessory options we will have. Factory Hyundai performance parts will be really cool to have. Kinda like Honda and it's HFP (Honda Factory Performance) parts line up.

No word on veloster performance parts or Hyundai factory performance upgrades. I want to hear about a release date on those!

 

For Canadian customers' interest, I emailed cr@hyundaicanada.com asking about the Canadian release date and the response from the customer relations coordinator said "fall, September or October. We do not have an exact date yet."

Again, this is for Canada. To me this isn't unexpected... but I wish it was a bit sooner

usually the canadian release is a month later...so that still puts the USA at aug....still a month + away! grrr...

 

I too am anxiously waiting for a release date. Although I am concerned that we may not get many official details about pricing and packages until right at release time. I was originally looking at the Elantra and followed the website regularly for updates. One weekend, I happened to drive by my local Hyundai dealer and they had three Elantras on the lot. However, the Hyundai website still did not have any details or a "Build It Now" option available. I emailed Hyundai about this, and they said to keep checking the website for updates. For as long ago as the official release of the Veloster took place, it seems like they could have at least announced pricing and detailed package options by now.

 

It does seem weird, but maybe they find if people know all the details in advance, their excitement/interest starts to wane after awhile. Are they thinking the mystery is keeping us on the edge of our seats? Judging from my own behaviour at least, they're probably right! Unfortunately.

Well I don't know much... but what I do know is, and I know you're all like me - I won't be able to really look seriously at other cars until I try out a V and find out if it's what I hope it will be. So, here we wait.

 

I just want to curse right now and use the big F word as I recieved a reply today from a Hyundai rep on hyundaithinktank.com regarding the release of the veloster and he says September they should start heading into dealerships which sux since we were believing it would be August. I shouldnt complain but this waiting is for the freakin birds you know!

 

Maybe Popular Mechanics' estimate of November will prove correct. Even if it does release in Sept, would probably be November before you could get one without paying a premium.

If it slips into October/November it's time to compare against what other manufacturers are shipping for 2012 models. Probably even at September I start comparing to 2012's whereas with June/July I compare to 2011's.

 

Hi guys and gals! I just left the salesman me and my partner have bought our past five cars from. I was originally going in to harras him about the Veloster and came close to buying an Elantra as I need the 40MPG now for work. He was fresh back from a Hyundai Conference in Virginia Beach where they had a Veloster for everyone to see. His comment was Hyundai is quoting August as the release date but he said they will be trickling in until September or October when you will start to see them sitting on the lots.

Needless to say they wouldn't come off the sticker price one freaking dollar so I walked. Good thing as I originally wanted a Veloster all along.

I picked Sept. as the date but this is getting to be long. Got so impatient I got vanity plates already ordered to X'fr when I get one. Now I really have to get a Veloster because it just wouldn't be right to put them on a Scion! I just wanted to buy something so another 6-8 weeks my tags should be on my Celica confusing ppl! Hope soon after that to be sporting the tags to their rightful place on a red Veloster. I am willing to wait, not willing to pay a premium for that privilege so looks like it will be awhile.

 

Me too! I got my VELOSTR plates for California. They wouldn't be right on a Focus hatchback. I drove the 2012 Focus hatchback in May 2011. Wish Hyundai would get on the ball.

 

When I was at the NY Auto Show in April, a Hyundai rep told me it's looking like Sept. now because of the labor strike delays. They appear to be shipping to Europe now, which, I believe is the stop just before the US.

Just read an article from an Austrailian newspaper posted two days ago stating the Veloster is out already here in the US. Dayum I wish they were correct but of course no such luck..Good article though and they stated the starting price here at $17,800.00 Sounds really good to me!

 

it really need to come faster, i am getting sick of waiting.
