I have been looking under the hood around the firewall for where this is located, I'm assumed it was either there or under the glove box, but watching videos of the glove box being taken out I don't see it anywhere, am I going to have to take apart me whole dash to fix this?

I just had my HVAC module replaced (13 NAV Style, 50k miles), it stopped working on setting 4, and they swapped out with a newer design. the parts guy told me there was a campaign on these now.

I had mine replaced in 2015 because the switch was "touchy" and only worked if I fiddled with it. It was replaced under warranty. I brought the car back this weekend because settings 1 and 2 stopped working this week but looks like I'm out of warranty. Was quoted over $400 to replace the assembly. Somehow today, setting 1 now works but 2 still doesn't. I asked the Hyundai rep why this part failed so much and his response was: we can't predict when these electronic components will fail. Twice in 2 years on a car with 42,000 miles on it does not seem normal to me. I've bought Hyundai since 1998 and never had a problem that wasn't fixed to my satisfaction, but if they cannot stand behind a repair they did 3 years ago I may jump the Hyundai ship.

My whole unit was replaced a year ago because a 7cent spring broke and the dealer said they don't replace parts just the whole HVAC.

Now a month ago my fan will only blow VERY gently if I put the dial halfway between 1 and 2 OR halfway between 3 and 4. It won't blow on any actual number or change speeds. It's so gentle you can barely feel it.

The dealer told me $400 to replace it agin... anybody have any ideas? I'm hoping it's a cheap part and quick fix for someone like me who can just about screw in a light bulb ?

Help please...

Wonder if the "brand new on ebay" ones are the newer design. I saw a video of someone that pulled one apart to clean and repair, I wonder how long that would last? Might just be easier to replace. Mine is OK yet but sounds like a guaranteed failure point

Broken, Again!

Does anyone know if they redesigned this switch to fix the problem? If they did, when? Or if I buy a switch for a 2015-current will it fit in my 2012? I really hate to have to keep buying a $175.00 switch every other year.

My switch started dying about 3 months ago in my 2012 with 132k. I smelled something like burnt wires, then the switch turned intermittent with 2 and 4 working, then days later 3 and 4, then when the temp turned to 102 degrees, nothing. I pulled the trim and saw that the connector and wire to the switch was melted. So, with the warranty gone, my only option is to get a switch from somewhere. The problem I see with changing out the unit is that won't fix ALL of the problems, since the wires melted as well.

I sent an email to hyundai on 10 July 2019 and asked it they new there is a problem somewhere in the wiring is this system, and seems to be systemic. Awaiting reply.

Your best bet is to send your pictures into NHTSA. If there are enough people who complain about their cars almost catching fire, they will look into the matter and make Hyundai recall the switch. Trust me, I have seen a lot of issues with this switch

Let me know if you got it fixed/replaced? I have a 2013 VT and my switch is starting to falter (1/2 finally failed and 3/4 are still working). I was watching youtube videos and noticed that the Blower Switch is what people replaced the most but not sure what the part # even is.

Doing some research, it seems that newer models fixed the issue? So questions for anyone were:

1. Should I just go ahead and get a whole new kit?

.2 Or is there a place I can try and replace the switch? I can't find anywhere with the part # or where to get one.

Definitely don't want to go back to the dealership since they are charging an arm and a leg to replace it.

Update: Got a call back from Hyundai after playing phone tag, and then stated that they needed to see the car itself and not the pictures. So, on the next scheduled oil change, 8/16/2019 I took the vehicle in and they told me to bring it back on the 18th and they could get my oil change in the same time they were looking at it, because they were booked until 8/18/2019. When I got there at 0700 AM, I was told that I needed to pay the $140 diagnostic fee and they'll be used towards the repair of $500- $600 and it was probably the shorting in the head unit. After discussing with Hyundai Customer service who told me to bring it in, at their direction they should negate the diagnostic fee...... To make a longer story short, it looks like I'm gonna have to do the repairs myself. Submitted report to NHTSA. Love the Car, not liking the company so much...

Yeah, I got quoted a $175 diagnostic fee when I inquired about them looking at the AC control. I think I'm just going to buy a whole new dash control unit for ~$170-200 and just replace it myself and see if that seems to fix it.

I don;t know what Hyundai is waiting for, someone to die in a fire caused by this thing? Keep sending in your pictures and filing a complaint to NHTSA. Also keep your receipts if you fix this issue on your own. If it does come down to a recall, you'll get the money back from Hyundai and your complaints just might save someones life(s).
