Retrofit of headlights?

My V is perfect..no issues other than night driving. There is a note in the manual specifically stating that retrofitting HID or Xenons could effect the electronics. I am wondering if there is a standard type of lamp, a different brand, that will provide a better view. The standard headlamps are rather compromised in brightness. I feel as though I'm driving with the parking lights on, solo. Thx in advance.

I think the Veloster uses H11B bulbs for its headlamps. The Silverstars are to be considered but its short running life might have you running for a another set in a year or less. From the little research I did I found the PIAA Xtreme White to be the better product in both regards to a running life and light output, but take note they cost twice as much as the Silverstars and to most shines about twice as long.

I'm interested in this too..

I've seen Sylvania SilverStar zXe and SilverStar Ultra's in action and they're much better than stock bulbs.

i've love it if Sylvania SilverStar zXe's fit in the Veloster. The zXe's only list these as available bulb types: 9003, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, H7 and H11

The manual for the Veloster says 11B's...

I haven't seen any 11B's that are listed as being headlights other than fog lamp bulbs.

these fit and have the correct specs compared to H11B?

also, i've emailed sylvania asking for H11B bulbs and they said they are currently not making any silverstars and have no plans to until demand rises. they advised to contact them again in 6 months. could we get a bunch of us to email them to make these bulbs for us? i would especially be interested in the zXe bulbs.

FYI for those of you want to get projector retrofit. Projector light output is actually less than Reflector, though it shoots further and have a clean line between the light and dark spot. If you want the headlight to be brighter, change the light to HID and you will see a huge difference. Note that the higher "K" you go, the lesser light output it gives. 4000k - 4300k is pure white, which most of the factory installed HID/Xenon lights are. 6000k has little blueish, 8000k is more blue, 10000k is blue (starts to get illegal in some places), and 28000k is pink if i remember right.

Ive used the Silverstars in the past and they do offer some extra light. BUT, every set Ive ever owned in several cars burnt out after about a year. Both sides within days of each other.

Ive since used Nokya and they last much longer, while offering extra output.

To be honest I think they are bright.. My ford and the traded saturn l200 do not compare. I have no issues with the light.. but I never had HID so I can't really compare.

I'm coming from an RX8 with HID projectors and a Fiesta with really good lights-- and I really don't see much to fuss about with the Veloster. If a reasonable projector-housed assembly becomes easily available, I'll switch just for the aesthetics. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with the lights!

I have to agree on this one........ having done this mod on different cars that i have owned. If you are going to put a aftermarket HID, whether 35 or 55w, into a headlight designed for halogen bulbs, you will get unsafe and unusual light beam patterns that can and will blind oncoming traffic. A reflector designed only for halogen bulb will NOT throw a correct beam pattern when a HID kit is installed in it, no matter what the vendor promises you.
google DANIEL STERN on the internet and all this will be explained in simple terms.

HID's work very well with projector's and i am not against their use at all. there are units out there that can be added to an existing halogen reflector set up and from my experience installing them, they work very well with a very good beam pattern, and do not blind oncoming traffic.

I think the V lights are weak, especially noticeable on a rainy night on dark rural roads. I applied the HID "fix", 4500k.
