My Stock vT and my shopping list to 300whp ( or close to it)

Based on your shopping list, clutch excluded (below), control arms, additional undercarriage support (imo all you need is front and rear sway - additional chassis bracing others will say you might need it), external waste gate and the fact that the ECU can only hold one tune (so you may need a 3rd ECU if you want the mpg option) you are at about the 6K mark excluding any labour / wheel alignment.

If you get 300 reliable whp from that, I'll be very surprised.

If you are serious about pulling that sort of power, you will definitely need upgraded internals - looking at about $1500. Then take in to consideration head studs, installation of pistons rods and you might as well get a balance and blue print. You will also look at the crank and maybe have that nitrided. So excluding any work on the crank, figure about 3K bringing the total to about 4.5K,

As you will be installing a new clutch (ceramic clutch ~ $700), would be a really good time to install lightened flywheel (~$500) and possibly an LSD (~$1600). Install time about 8 hrs. Excluding labour costs you are at 2.8K.

Based on all these mods you are looking at about 13K and you haven't even mentioned the ability to stop quickly and consistently; no mention of upgrading stock turbo / diff turbo; meth injection (not a big fan). I also don't know what things might start braking at these outputs.

So whatever you do, I hope you get to your goal and wish you the best of luck in your endeavour.

Hey Kmartshopper, don't let these luddites deter you. I have heard of a Korean VT with larger turbo, bolt-ons and internals pushing 320 whp (327ps). It is achievable. But it won't be cheap, yet.

eye opener.... thanks
Perhaps this list (up for some edits) could come second to upgrading internals 1st.. That makes a lot of sense... Some friends put me on to a reputable garage/cnc machine shop. im going to look into this further...
No probs! Let us know of any developments that we may be able to use :)

That's the kit from 845 motorsports. So choose a turbo, meth kit, tune, forged internals labour to install and you have to run it on 93. You'll be lucky to see any change from 8K. The strange thing is I don't believe that the owner of this store has cracked 300 with this kit - may be wrong but...

Drews, I totally agree with what you are saying.

What annoys me is that they are advertising this as suitable for a DD BUT they aren't telling potential customers that they need upgraded internals. The FOX car was meant to highlight the versatility of this package ie a DD as well as a track car.

Kyle at 845 drives his VT every day and I'm 95% sure it makes over 300WHP. I think it's something like 320whp with his stock stuffed turbo, FMIC, CAI, Downpipe, meth injection and tune.
320 whp??? Gotta luv that.

His latest claim is in the range 285 - 300 whp. But this isn't the point I'm trying to make. He is advertising a kit which will not generate these numbers without additional money spent on internals, meth and additional tuning.
