Bless the soul who recommended using the existing frame...... Clearance isn't such a hassle now!!

Pretty sure the higher end dimension system is the same across the different offerings, i plan to go aftermarket soon, it sounds pretty good but i like a little more fidelity, i already installed a 10 inch sub, swapping out the speakers will be a cinch really, couple hundred bucks for higher end sound is not so unreasonable.

i have a question i want to upgrade my speakers also but i was wondering when looking at component speakers that come with a cross over. do i need a cross over because the car already has a woofer and a tweeter in the door. are there 2 different sets of wires that go to the tweeter and woofer or are they just 1 set with no cross over. i noticed that the cross over has 1 input and 2 outputs so what goes to the input, the woofer wire or the tweeter

Rockford Fosgate Punch

Just bought some RF punch 165s component systems to replace my front speakers as they blew out. Anyone have these? Sound quality? Fit?

Also, i have two Alpine 10" E class subs going to waste, is it possible to use the factory location when installing it?

Hey guys..
I live in australia and thought i'd play it safe and bought the infinity speakers from the USA.
My car audio installer had installed new components for me but they were 4ohm and needed something a little more sensitive.
With these infinity speakers obviously the sound quality will be improved however will they be just as loud or quieter? I don't have plans to upgrade the dash speaker so hopefully there won't be a balance issue there? And i'm just going to keep the back speakers as they are since they are just back fillers. I have an aftermarket sub and amp already which is pumping hard but these hyundai speakers keep blowing and my dealer this time has told me the speaker part is "pending for approval", so I can't be stuffed waiting weeks to have another piece of crap speaker installed again.

Thanks guys!

Will be doing this project when I get home today. Will take pics and fill in all the missing ones if possible. I think these Dimension speakers must be from the brown noise series. Awful quality. And that magnet, what a joke. If this was the upgrade choice, I would hate to hear/see the stock turds.

So what is the best way to wire up a replacement component system on the front doors? Since the tweeter and mid have they're own separate feeds I assume there is no need to use the crossover included in the speaker kits?

That's correct. If you haven't already purchased a set of 2-ways, go out and purchase a pair of tweeters and a pair of mids and use the existing wiring for the components.

Thanks so much for all the info on this thread.

I just have a couple of questions,

1. I am looking to put Kappa Perfect 6.1 components on the front doors. These speakers have a top mount of 2.62 inches. Using the existing frame (as i've seen 2.5inch speakers will fit there), do you guys think these speakers will fit?

2. My audio installer noted that if you use this existing frame, there will be some sound leakage. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks ahead for your responses.

howdy all... ive been lurking on this thread for weeks now, and from what i can tell, there are MANY different ways to skin this cat. i have a stock base v with the 6 speaker junk system, no center speaker and no subwoofer.

my plan is to replace the front speakers with the rockford fosgate p1675-s setup; this is a 6.75 component with tweets running on an integrated crossover. i am aware that these speakers will probably not fit super easy, but im confident the mods required to make it work will be pretty simple... the rear speakers will get swapped out with the rockford fosgate p1675 pair; again, not a perfect fit out of the box, but if folks are saying they can cram a 6.75 in the fronts, im having a hard time believing that they wont work in the back as well. all of the new speakers are rated right around 70w rms, so ive decided the stock head unit is too puny to drive the new hotness. im going to break in to the speaker harness behind the head unit and wire in the tiny rockford fosgate pbr300x4 amp to push the power to them.

so here are a few questions:
1. has anyone successfully managed to shoehorn in 6.75s in back?
2. the stock system seems to have separate, crossovered leads for the tweets, so do i:
a.piggyback the stock tweet leads through the amp and then wire the speakers to the newly amplified stock leads,

b.wire the new tweets straight to the stock leads without additional amplification, or

c.abandon the stock tweet leads altogether and wire the new tweets in series to their component partner speakers the way they were originally intended, which would also have them
running through the new amp?

i plan to strip all the old stock plastic and whatnot off the doors and dynamat the whole shebang (hey, if youve already spent the time to disassemble this nightmare, why WOULDNT you?), and last but NOT least, i will piggyback my two rear speaker leads to wire in a rockford fosgate p300-10 powered loaded subwoofer enclosure for the trunk.

i figure with this operation, i may just have to do like dawgster and document the whole thing for posterity...
