With the way cars are engineered now I would say that you should return the car to the place you bought it and get your money returned.
Years ago, many years ago, this would not be considered a serious problem and a fix would not usually involve any complexity.
However, with the advent of computer controlled engines and auto electronics this simple appearing problem could be very serious and involve extensive and expensive repairs.
And, in view of the symptoms you are experiencing I would think this is definitely going to be on the expensive side of repair.
