I have a 2012 veloster DCT shifting hard going into 2,4 and 6 also reverse is acting funny. I’m getting a message that pops up telling me to pull over when safe protection mode enabled, only pops up for a brief couple secconds then goes away,
I brought the car to the dealer they said it needed a clutches in the transmission, I bought a transmission and brought it to them, they put that transmission in and it’s still doing the same thing, they said might be the Tcm so they replaced that , still doing the same thing,
they said clutches must be bad in the new transmission, so I brought them a third transmission that has been tested and works perfectly and another Tcm that has also been tested and works perfectly and it’s still doing the same thing,
now there saying the third transmission needs clutches, at this point I don’t think they care about actually fixing the problem the car has been there for 2 months, I have paid them thousands and I am no further ahead than I was 2 months ago.. I am beyond frustrated has anyone had the same issues and may know what is causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

At one point mine also had a code in ABS that said lost communication with Tcm lever and CAN Time-out was another one. I'm wondering if something is grounding out, open or short circuit and causing the Controller Area Network to transfer faulty signals or not transfer the correct signals between all modules in general. I believe this is a communication error between your tcm, ecu, pcm and the dct itself. Test the CAN wiring system leading to every connection on the transmission.

I have a 13’ DCT Veloster that’s doing the same. I cant tell for certain but I believe its something with the TCM because I cant even get my car to move 2 ft. It locks up after trying to accelerate and protection mode comes up. Also does the skipping odd gears like 1, 3, 5. I did get them back after disconnecting the battery for a couple of days and it run like new for a couple days then now Im back to it not wanting to move. Do you get P171C code? Thats what I get, however I know my clutch one actuator motor isnt the problem because i switch it out and it’s still saying the same.

Do you know where i can get the info for the CAN wiring system? Would much appreciate it 🙏🏼

Any updates ? I am having very similar problems. Ruff shifting into 2 4 and 6. Reverse makes the car just stall out and shut off. My stereo says transmission overheating when in even gears but message goes away as soon as I shift to odd gears. So I've just been skipping my even gears to get around but it's not fun lol I have also switched my transmission and nothing. Getting code P0175. And also when starting the car it screeches but replaced the starter and didn't fix it.

I’m getting a p17C1 code but checked both clutch actuator motors and they are good. Then they have the gate shift actuator also but when looking the part up you can’t find it because it’s under a thousand different names 🤦🏻‍♂️. Have to look up the part number instead but yeah, I have the same problem with my 13 Dct veloster. I’m about to change all three parts for **** and giggles and I’ll let you know the outcome since no one else helps with this situation even though it’s all over this forum.

Please let me know aha. I'm also wondering if the flywheel may be misalignment with the clutch and is it because I didn't have the clutch relearn procedure done.
