Has anyone put in LED foot well lighting or the lights in the cup holder? Just wonder if anyone has a good power source for ambient lighting or if there is a good power source in the area. I have tech and style so hopefully there is an easy spot to t tap into the line. I searched the forum but wasn't able to find anyone talking about it yet. I just put in the LEDs in the rest of the interior and truck and plates so stage 1 is complete.

I have LED footwell lights, but I chose to run the power directly to the battery so if I chose to, I could have them running even with the car off :)

I have two 10" blue neon tubes to match the ambient lighting already in my V and they run through and extension of the cigarette lighters and I also have four LEDs in the cubby behind the gear shifting knob because i can't see much at night time. Pm me if you want to see some pics

Thanks Avikozo!

That's a pretty good spot to tap into. Could work for under dash LEDs as well.

Just needs a rocker switch in line to turn them on/off as needed.

Do you mean when you close the doors and leave the car?

Cause I believe they are tapping into the power for the shift selector lights. Which would turn on as soon as the car is switched to Acc or On.

+1 to Diesel, tapping power from an existing circuit would only give power to the mod when the stock lighting would normally be on, but i would route a switch to the little button combo set where the eco button and dash light dimmer is

Actually I thought about that location as well, but contrary to other switch "blanks" I've come across before that panel there seems to be all a one piece cluster that in turn plugs into a harness. So it's a bit more complicated than just drilling a hole for the switch and done.

And while thinking about where and how, I had the question, if we tap for power on a circuit that gets controlled by interior lights dimmer switch.. That would mean that the new illumination we splice in will also be controlled and dimmed by the factory switch.. Correct?

Seriously -- cup holder lights? There are lights above the rearview mirror that target the cup holders. They work well. And if I put a cup in there -- I know it is there because the ambient light (if driving at night) shows it.

I would love to have footwell lighting installed, triggered or wired through the map lights. I think that would be the most sensible way to have it trigger, and would not alter the stock look in any way. I just don't want to have to rip the entire interior out to install such a setup. For now, I'm leaving it stock.
