I just got a 2020 Veloster R-Spec. I'm not used to turbos I'm not used to cars that like to be function to 2000 RPM.
My question and what I've noticed is when you've got the turbo going strong in first gear and then you shift to 2nd gear you lose the turbo because the RPMs drop. How do I keep the turbo going through all the gears? Do I need to press down much harder on the gas in between shifts to keep the turbo going?

Shift faster.

You're only thinking the turbo is dropping off, but it actually is not.

A smooth and accurate transition through the gears will have very little effect on the turbo output.

What you are hearing is the exhaust tone change because of how you're working the gas pedal.

Some will just hammer the throttle, leaving it WOT continuously through the shifting.

You could do it this way. The rev-limiter should save your engine.
