Quick minor question .. if you got mats should anchors be provided to stop the mat from slipping ?

Really? I thought it came with factory carpet mats already anchored in? Aren't factory carpet mats standard (anchor or not, depends on the car) or have I just been too use to them being there. I've never noticed the factory carpet mats as a accessory option at any point for any of my cars.

So they're actually screwed in, not mounted to pegs? I'd like to get mine fitted properly, they were in the car so the dealer threw them in - they have the spikes but they keep sliding forward which is a tad frustrating. 1500 first service is a fortnight away, will have to see if they'll do it then for me.

Just checked my 2 week old Turbo and factory optioned mats have spikes underneath and the achores are in the glove box with instructions on how to fit them? I would have thought the dealer would have installed the anchors when they supplied the optional mats? However, instructions say poke a hole in the carpet and screw the anchor into the hole! Not happy about punching a hole into the new carpet and will it tear a bigger hole over time? Drivers mat has 2 eyelets and passenger mat has one central eyelet. I don't think I will install the anchors due to the required hole in my new carpet. But even with the spikes the mats still wander around.

I have exactly the same arrangement as you Ozcarnut. My dealer fitted the eyelets through the carpet with a spike type tool. Had mine in for around 3 months and the holes have not grown at all. Best of all the anchors work fine. I am a fussy owner who hates the thought of a burred head on a screw, however having these three small holes in the carpet doesnt bother me, particularly in the context that they are meant to be there....my 2 cents

Thanks Pierre, that gives me the confidence to have another look at the anchors and go ahead with poking holes in the carpet. If the holes don't expand then it's a better option than constantly pushing the mat back in place.
