Hello, all!

I'm looking for some help with an issue I am having with my 2015 VT.

I was driving home from work a few weeks ago and the car was running fine.

I started to go up a hill and I could tell something wasn't right. The car had lost all power and could not make it uphill without losing speed.

It is an automatic and doesn't seem to have any shifting issues between gears.

Once I got home I was trying to figure out what the issue could be.

I noticed that when I was driving I could not hear the BOV making its usual noise anymore. It had been when I left work.

I had replaced the stock valve with a Turbosmart TS-0203-1031 because the stock valve and solid had both stopped working at the same time a few years ago.

I do regular maintenance on the BOV but when I pulled it off to see if there was an issue keeping it from operating correctly I noticed the piston was wearing out. I tried to order another BOV but all of the turbosmart stuff seems to be backordered by about two weeks.

I didn't want to wait that long to get a new BOV so I ordered a Forge BOV directly from them. The model is Fmdvhga, which I had seen recommended on here in another post.

I installed it today and this valve is not operating either. This BOV installs a little differently and doesn't come with any directions. The Turbosmart BOV vents to atmosphere and recirculates.

The new Forge BOV needs to sit on the stock plate ( Part Number: 282332B700 (28233-2B700)
the the original valve sat on. I still had it so I used it when installing the Forge valve.

I got everything put together and it is still not operating.

Things I have done so far.

1. I replaced the MAC valve, that I had originally installed a few years ago, because I thought it could possibly be causing the issue at first.

2. I replaced all three vacuum lines and hose clamps just to make sure they were not causing an issue.

3. I checked the air filter and it's still in good shape. I even tried it with the filter out to see if it was blocking air.

4. Replaced the BOV as mentioned above. I tried using the green spring that was in it when I got it. I tried switching it to the yellow spring and that did not work either.

At this point I do not know where to go from there.

One thing I did was check the piston in the new Forge valve. It seems to be in there extremely tight and I wasn't sure if that is the way its suppose to be.

The grease seemed kind of old so I completely cleaned it up and used sewing machine oil to lubricate it before putting it back in. I had to push down pretty hard to get the piston to seat back down into the body of the valve.

To me it doesn't seem like that piston would move very easily to be able to open up. It's so tight that I can hardly pull it out with my fingers and almost need to use needle nose pliers. As I mentioned though, I'm not sure if this one is supposed to slide easily like the Turbosmart on did.

One other thing I was not sure about is if I was supposed to run the recirculating hose back to the intake from that plate or cap that plate of completely and let it vent purely to atmosphere. I figured, because it sits on that stock plate, it was supposed to be run back to the intake.

I'm hoping someone here will think of something that I haven't and lead me in the right direction.

I should probably also mention that I have no CEL showing and no stored codes of any kind.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight that can be provided!

do you have any gauge to measure the boost? do you hear any excess air rushing when on the gas? autos won't trip the BOV between shifts like manuals do, they tend to hold boost better.

turbosmart and forge are hardly recommended anymore in favor if GFB who makes a no nonsense adjustable and bolt-on bov.

are you sure all the vacuum lines are correct?

Unfortunately I do not have a tool to check the boost. Is there one you would recommend?

I do not hear any excess air rushing when on the gas.

It feels normal when driving at slow speeds. If I get on it and let off the gas the feeling is almost like what you would get if you down shifted to stop. It kind of lurches if that makes sense.

I'm going to look at that BOV you suggested today and possibly return the Forge because it just doesn't seem right to me because of that piston.

I'm going to go out now and double check the Vacuum lines just to make sure everything is good on that end. I believe they are but as much as I have been messing with this I could have switched one up.

Thanks for your response! I'll let you know what I find out as far as the lines go.

I checked the lines and they all appear to be correct.

While I was out there I decided to try it out again to see what happened. In neutral I got on the pedal a bit and the BOV started working.

I took it for a drive and it felt like it was going like it used to.

That lasted for about a half mile and then I could tell the BOV wasn't opening anymore and it went back to the way it has been. I did notice a noise coming from the area where the turbo lines run on the passenger side by the engine. I tried to record a video of the sound and will see how to upload that here.

That doesn’t sound right at all.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here and I don't want to sound super critical either, but I must say that I feel you don't have a clue about how a BOV is supposed to work and you can just keep on hammering the engine at idle, in neutral, and thinking the result is "real world" but it is not. :)
