1.6 Gdi to 1.6 Tdi swap

So my 2013 velo base model has a bad tick coming from it (sounds like timing chain slap but could be deeper) anyways I was curious if it would be possible to swap the NA with the 1.6 Tdi and what I would need to do otherwise to make it work out as I’d like to get some more power out of it anyway. And feedback and help is appreciated as I’m learning as I go with engines!

If it's the turbo diesel you're wanting to swap into your car you'd have to change out the fuel neck of the car, fuel pump, probably the fuel line and of course the engine.
You'd probably have to find one in the 2013-2014 year models as transmissions changed after those years and the ecu should plug and play but there would be wires you'd have to add and or modify to make it all work.
There's a lot of work involved with a diesel swap.

Probably be easier swapping another n/a engine or swapping to the 2013-2014 turbo motor in.

Your mechanical skills will have to be top notch as will your electrical skills to do either of the swaps. To pay someone would cost you a ton.

Good luck. 🍀
He’s in the US we didn’t get the turbo diesels, most likely referring to the tgdi in the turbos.
Oh. 🤨
Never mind. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

That’s exactly what I was talkin about, I’ve heard the velo ain’t a hard swap at all as long as you’ve got the tools, would be an interesting project none the less for me
if you can get a longblock with matching immobilizer and ECU you're most of the way there.
Bro what happened?? 3 years later did you get it done?
lol i bet nothing happened.
