Did anyone read this? Wareham man killed in head-on collision | SouthCoastToday.com

So sad. It made me wonder if Christopher was a member of this forum? I guess we may never know.

Please wear your seatbelts guys. It could save your life.

I'll never understand why people choose not to wear a seatbelt.......that's just a crappy, unnecessary way to go.

Isn't there an annoying bell sound that continues while the seat belt is not clicked? Very sad, indeed. We have had a lot of wrong way drivers around here last year ... not sure whats up with that ... are the roads that confusing all of a sudden?

Based on the Lexus operator's name, I wonder if he's an immigrant from a country where they drive on the left side of the road. Sucks neither one was wearing a seatbelt.

Yeah, could be ... just read an article here locally a firefighter died in his pickup roll-over single vehicle crash ... no seat belt.

That is so sad... he should have worn his seat belt. I wish cars came with seatbelts like infant car seats, that snap in the middle and cars had seat sensors like air bags, car won't start if everyone is not buckled up. True it would be hard to wear skirts but I believe that kind of car seat would save lives. I have too many female friends won't wear a car seat because it will wrinkle their clothes, or they are heavy and put the shoulder belt under their left arm, because they say the shoulder belt chokes them. My father was a die hard sports car fantatic (Jag XKE, MG, TR3, TR4, TR6) and never wore a seat belt up to his death in 1989. He said he didn't want to be trapped and catch on fire. People have funny ideas I guess? Seat belts save lives.

Yeah, the physics are simple ... speed + collision = hurt. The effort is minimal. Not wearing it is just crazy.

Unfortunately people sell things like these to override the warning chimes. I've also seen people pull the passenger seat belt over and hook it into the drivers side to stop the chime. (BTW, there were almost 500 of these things for sale on eBay at the moment.)

Unfortunately no, yes but it doesn't continue... and I know this because I unbuckle to reach for my badge to get into underground parking, then I don't rebuckle as I drive to my favorite spot. It only beeps a little bit then stops. I never drive without a seat belt - ever. I am the only one in the garage at that time of morning and don't see the reason to rebuckle. I wish cars would not start unless seat belts were buckled, I'd gladly rebuckle to save lives.

Are those actual official Hyundai products? If not, it looks like time to crack down on their trademark enforcement. If so... for shame that they're available to the public. Even if it says "Do not use," it's pretty clear that they're intended to be used and the "do not use" is just to prevent getting sued by people who use them and get hurt.

I didn't wear my seatbelt until I was 23 years old. I was scrubbing in surgery and we got an emergency in from a car wreck. Apparently it was a low speed impact, and barely damaged the bumper. But the guy wasn't wearing a seatbelt, his head flew forward and it knocked out ALL of his front teeth and a couple of them went down his windpipe. I will never forget that raspy, desperate wheezing sound of that poor guy, struggling to breathe, clawing at people, just wild eyed and his whole lower face and neck a blood soaked mess. I started wearing my seatbelt after that.
