Back in 1963, I was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident (runaway pickup with no driver) in which one of the cars impacting me had a middle-grade aged child in the passenger seat with no seat belt.

All of his front teeth were on the floor after colliding with the dashboard. The father/driver was sobbing saying "We just left the orthodontist three miles up the road after a final payment of $6,000 for my kid's teeth."

Does anyone find it odd there there is no chime / warning on display if the passenger isn't wearing a seatbelt? it's the first car i've owned that has no warning. My last 2 cars both did.

It only beeps a little bit then stops. I never drive without a seat belt - ever. I am the only one in the garage at that time of morning and don't see the reason to rebuckle. I wish cars would not start unless seat belts were buckled, I'd gladly rebuckle to save lives.

There is actually, at least for the Veloster in the U.S. It has a chime that stays on and repeats over and over untill you buckle up. Theres even a little light in the dash that pops up.

You just didn't drive far enough. Trust me when I tell you that it chimes for a while, then there is a long pause, and then it chimes some more.

My V's seatbelt buckle was defective from the factory and did not register the fact that I was wearing my seatbelt. For 35 miles on the way to work every day I heard that stupid chime all the way there, and then got to listen to it all the way home, too.

So sorry to read this! I was hit head on March 1 by a drunk driver! Thankfully my grandson and I were ok except for airbag injuries.
