That's an amazing story re: the nearly $29K price. When I shopped B'ton, there was a $2,995 ADM on the DCT/Tech that I drove...it only required a brief comment from me to have it removed.

The marked-up V that you refer to is priced at ~$5,300+ over MSRP!!! Amazing.

Beaverton Hyundai didn't get the sale to me because of their silly trying to talk me into huge markup tactics. I walked out and never bothered calling or going back there. Ended up going to T&C as they got what I wanted first, but Larry Miller seemed like they would sell for a reasonable price as well.

Interesting contrasts in experiences...perhaps due to differences in purchase dates (mine in October '11).

T&C lost my business because they wouldn't budge off MSRP and refused to even entertain the notion of a Motozuma purchase, i.e. saying they had never heard of it and refused to explore it. Miller almost got my business with a $500 below MSRP offer. In fact, I was on my way to sign the deal (a silver w/black interior DCT/Tech) when I passed B'ton and saw an identical V but with gray interior (which I preferred) on the lot. After less than 1/2 hour and a short test drive, I put $10,000 down on the purchase of that car at invoice. Last month, I returned to B'ton for a free oil change and the DCT flash...was impressed with their service (except for a slight overfill of oil which they offered to correct).

Of the 6 local dealers, T&C was the only dealer that was sticking to MSRP...all the others were offering discounts in October. Can't comment on what the dealers are currently offering. I'm sure glad I didn't/don't have to deal with the SoCal dealers though. That appears to be a seller's market down there.

Very interesting. I got mine in September 2011 from T&C. I couldn't get anyone except T&C and LM to be at MSRP. Everyone else including Beaverton wanted silly amounts of markup. I did get T&C to do Motozuma though and I did get another $500 back for financing through Hyundai so got $1000 back total so it's odd they wouldn't do it for you at a later date. I hadn't had a car since Julyish so I had to get one then or I would have waited another month or two to get an invoice deal like yours. As it was I had to give the car I'd been borrowing back and renting one to wait for an invoice deal would have cost me the same in the end. Maybe I scared everyone else into thinking they wouldn't sell any when they were all calling back in October wondering if I was still looking and I told them I got one elsewhere. Being an early buyer maybe I put a cap on the market price at MSRP...HAHA. Wouldn't that be interesting to know.

The salesperson you get at any dealer can make a huge difference. So dumb. I bought mine at T&C, loved my sales person. Ron Tonkin, Beaverton etc. all I ran into were asshats. I was about to buy one in Washington state when I decided to run by T&C and found one they just unloaded off the truck in back and just happened to run into the right person to make a deal with.

I have an Ironman with Style. I live North of Battle Ground up in the hills (yeah ok, it sticks out but I don't care) and I park it in Vancouver every day so I can bus to work. I saw my first other V last week. It was a white with either style or tech, on Andreson in Vancouver. We pulled up next to each other and rolled down the windows and said "nice car!". Was very cool.

As for all the talk about MSRP and experiences, I clearly got completely hosed. I feel like a damn fool. I can't even verbalize what I paid. Ugh. So I'll move on :-)

I live in Puyallup and commute to the Overlake area of Bellevue every day. I lost my carpool sharer a couple of weeks ago, and that explains why I sold my 2001 Dakota 4.7L and 1996 Mercedes C36 AMG to buy a Veloster. Commuting in the Dakota and getting 18mpg was killing me! Just filled my tank for the first time last night, and it cost me just over half what the Dakota did, and I got roughly 60 more miles out of it. That I can live with. I nearly bought a Focus 5 door, but the thought of seeing my car on every corner was not appealing at all. I've seen a few Vs around, but many friends, neighbors, and strangers claim to have never seen one before mine. A $20K car with any amount of exclusivity is definitely winning Mine is my favorite color - Black. Style Package, 6-speed manual, black interior. I paid sticker ($20,335), and am happy with the deal. The dealer had four on the lot - had to get mine out of Seattle. They had an allocation of over 60 Hyundai's coming in a few days w/ no Velosters in the mix. Also, I had just read the morning of my purchase that with the run up to the release of the Turbo V that NA Vs were going to become scarce. I'm happy to have found the mix of color and options that I wanted.

    Portland-Seattle: Meet in the Middle?

With Summer(?) finally here, how about some of us getting together for some tire kicking?

I'll throw out June 30 or 31st and consider any spot between Olympia and Chehalis.

    Anybody interested?

You can add my silver 2013 Turbo to the list of Velosters you might see around the Seattle/Bellevue/Everett/Lynnwood area.

Was out today and while coming back from Fry's I saw another VT in Vitamin C (one of the colors I originally wanted). So far that's a total of 2 Turbos I've seen including my own out of 5 Velosters.
