    Axle shaft / update

Just got the car back today, and they replaced both front axle shafts. Part no's 49500-2v000 (left) and 49501-2v000 (right)

Total cost was $1097.63 We paid a $50 deductible since we still have powertrain warranty in place.

The noise is gone, the car drives fine. Hopefully it does not return.

    will keep you updated.

I had my NAV towed to the dealer last friday (see catalytic converter post) and while it was there for the Cat, I had them revisit my recurring axle click. they applied the TSB for the Elantra wheel hub washers, and the click is gone, car feels solid again, just passing this along if anyone is still getting the runaround from the dealers.

What does your click sound like (besides just a click)? I have a noise coming from the passenger side front tire, but only noticeable when I press the brakes. It's almost like a click/squeak, there is no pulsing in my brakes, but it doesn't make the noise when not on the brakes. Do you have the TSB # for the Elantra issue? I'll mention it next time I bring it in.

    Thanks

click/squeak on the brakes could be a few easy things to check. pad depth/squeal pin. a small pebble in the pad area. LCA bushings.

If I jack the front end up and run the car in gear and apply the brakes it doesn't makes the noise, so something in the front end needs to be loaded for it to occur...Maybe it's the LCA bushings, thanks!

my noise was obvious lash in the front drive train. any time I transitioned from fwd to reverse or vise versa, I'd get a noticeable click/thump as the axle splines mated with the hubs again. the fix was washers at the hub...turns out the front axle splines are not threaded deep enough to allow for full engagement without the washer/shim. there's an active TSB for this on the elantra...but sadly not for the veloster even though it's a known issue.
