    Seat wear

Anyone notice any seat wear on your cloth seats? I have about 4500 on the clock and I noticed around the edge of the seat on the drivers side it is starting to unravel so to speak. It's like the threads are coming apart and I have loose stragglers sticking up. Not impressed with the quality of material. Those with Style packages will not have this issue since the side of the seat is leatherette.

Mine is the base model manual, and the cloth is showing definite wear on the base where you put your butt. Not impressed at 7500 KM.

Howdy, I have the same problem and my last service visit I brought it to their attention. They took pictures and sent is off to head quarters. Havent heard since (late January). However, I did post about this earlier and a member from Ontario said his dealership added more cushion to his seat to make the cloth more snug. There was also rumours from a sales associate that there might be a recall on the driver and passenger seat. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the info. Keep us updated if you hear anything. I will take pics and post them as soon as I can. It's interesting that you mention a dealership adding more cushion to his seat. I have noticed that there seems to be a lot of play in the material and it wrinkles up in the seat bolster area not giving you a tight fit. Makes me wonder if adding some more cushion will help. I still think that the material fraying is a quality issue though. I have owned several cars and have never once had an issue like this with so little miles on the car.

    A repost but great pic

In in good fun. Sucks about seats though, I'm gonna keep a close eye on mine. At the price of the V (personally, I don't think it's cheap for a car but I get why it's a ECOnomy car) somethings gotta give. Should be a warranty since so little miles.

I've noticed a little wear on the door side bolster when you slide and turn as you get in and out. I was going to bring it up when I go in next Saturday for my service. 2100 Miles

Does yours look like it is starting to fray or the stitching is coming loose?

There is a small recall regarding seating materials in South Korea, Not likely in US or other countries.

Nice pics. My V has 250 miles and I noticed that my seats have a similar thing happening, but only a few loose threads. It seems to be happening by the stitching. Oh well. Maybe the loose ends fall off eventually and the seats are all good? Let's hope. If not, we've got the warranty.

Lets hope so. I have a feeling the seat wear will only to continue to get worse. However, you are correct, that is what warranty is for.

I sew and it looks to me like the topstitching needles might have broken the fabric yarns. Perhaps they did not use ball point needles in the cover stitch machines?

It's also the heaviest wear point because you rub your rump along that edge as you get in and out. That fabric is definitely the type to catch on things like jean pocket edges and flat felled seam edges, anything even slightly raised or rough.

Sorry you base owners are having this issue.
Now I'm really appreciating the leatherette bolsters on the style and tech packages.

I agree. I wish Hyundai would have put the leatherette bolsters in all of the cars as part of the standard package. Oh well.....

One would think. I haven't addressed it with them yet. I have a growing list of items and will talk to them about this at that time. The other issue I noticed is I have a nice little cut on the top right rear seat. I will have to take a pic. It looks like someone was using a knife and sliced the upper part of the seat. Does anything know if the seats are wrapped in plastic when they are delivered?? It was either cut at the factory or at the dealer. Problem is, I have no way of proving it and to be honest, due to the location, it would be hard to notice upon delivery.
