Blowoff Valve / Bypass Valve mod

At the encouragement of a friend of mine who owns a 2017 Elantra turbo, I removed the blowoff valve hose from the intake to see if I could hear the valve working and get that gratuitous little "psshhh" noise. However, I do not hear that noise. Has anyone else tried this with a 2019 turbo? What has been your experience?

hey there, autos don't make as much "noise" as the manuals do as they regulate the engine power differently. you should also cap the large hose barb on the intake where you removed it.

you could put it in park, and have some rev the engine a bit while holding your hand next to the open hose coming from the BOV. you should feel some air releasing as well as hear it.

the factory valve does not get very loud anyways, compared to aftermarket.

I removed the hose and you can definitely hear the blowoff. It should be fairly audible, I know mine is. However, I also added a short ram intake from SXTH Element Engineering. If it isn't loud enough for your taste then you can remove the stock air box and add a cone filter in place of it, or buy an SRI from SXTH.

You’re right...I can hear it, but just barely. Got approval to order an intake today...am gonna hit up Sxth for the same one you have. Can you hear the turbo spool better?

Turbo spool is much more audible with the intake, I am very pleased with how the car sounds intake wise. I'm just waiting for an exhaust to come out that I like, I'd rather avoid doing just a muffler delete as I am afraid it might make it too obnoxious and with a 40 mile one way commute I do not want that. haha
