Hi Guys,

Was wondering if anyone has had their 7500km service on their VT? I was under under the impression it was fixed price servicing. I just rang dealer to make a booking and they quoted $379!! Seems a little excessive for a car that's almost 6months old. Apparently it requires synthetic oil and some excuse that the fixed price servicing only applies to the major services because as the dealer only gets rebate from Hyundai on the major services.

I'm curious what you guys think about this. '13 VT MT or '14 VT MT? I've been debating this and to be honest I have so much fun driving the VT MT i'd rather just get a 13 and enjoy it now rather then wait for a more expensive '14 that may not even be any different. On the other side I don't want to get the '13 and smack myself when the '14 comes out and blows the '13 away....

I want to replace the door speakers also to compliment the two sub's.

I'd like to thank Matthewficket and Jokestyle for the assistance in getting my lights working, and because of them I can create this HOW TO.

You can pull your door panels off using the dimension speaker replacement thread. I used the drill bit provided with the kit I purchased off eBay. Drilled the doors out here.

After this, I pulled the wires through a hole in the door grommet I made with a pick tool, then put the panels back on. I pulled the long trim piece aside each seat and then the kick panels. Just pull lightly they will pop out with a little force. The drivers side has the hood latch release on it, just pull it straight toward the center console before removing the kick panel. I ran the wires into this grommet in the chassis again using the pick tool and put a small piece of sheathing on.

Now to wire up the grounds (black wires).

ON THE DRIVER SIDE-
This solid brown wire here is directly under a brown with orange.

And this connector.

ON THE PASSENGER SIDE-
This solid blue wire here is right below the double greens.

And this connector.

I chose to solder and shrink wrap slightly thicker RED wiring to the positive side of the cables to make them easier to work with. On the passenger side, you need to extend the positive wire. I used about 5 feet of wire to get to the driver side fuse box.

You can grab positive here at the dome light using a fuse tap. if someone knows of a better way to do this, please let me know and i can update.

They come on when the door triggers are open. They are focused enough that they do not leak out under the door jamb when the door is just unlatched.

And then this funny, informative video!
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151699491381763

When all was said and done, I ended up soldering and shrink tubing OR covering connections in liquid electrical tape before buttoning everything up. The in-between photos shown here were before that process.

So, I have a 2012 base Veloster with 22k miles on it now.

Since the time I have owned it, there has been a slew of issues with the car

1. Had to send the car back the get the Gas neck replaced due to a defective sensor

2. Had to get the radio replaced

3. Took it in for a recall on the brake calipers

4. New head unit wasnt keeping time correctly, kept falling an hour back. Had to return it to get the firmware re-flashed.

5. Had to take it back to get the Emergency brake readjusted and the cable replaced after work had been done to the calipers

6. Windshield cracked due improper temperament of the glass.

7. Had to take it in to get the ECU re-flashed due to the revs bouncing and causing transmission slips

now today, As im driving down the highway headed to work. The bolt fell out of the crank shaft. Called for road side assistance, when they arrived, we lifted the hood to see the radiator fluid literally boiling, and now they are telling me after only 22k miles, they will probably have to replace or rebuild the motor.

Im starting to regret the day i even purchased this POS. My gut instinct was telling me to hold out for the new Focus, or get a Mazda 3. . but no. I settled on the Veloster, and quite frankly, its been one of the worst investments i have ever made. I am keeping all my records, and im soon approaching the time were i may qualify to file a Lemon Law complaint against the dealership and make them buy this turd back from me.

Hi guys. I am shopping around for a pair of winter wheels and tires for my Veloster Remix. Does anyone have any recommendations? Not looking to spend a ton but would like decent tires...As far as rims go, I will be happy just getting some steelies. Does size matter? My current tires are the 18's that come with the Remix. Any info would be great. Thanks guys

Hey guys. I don't know if I am missing something or what, but when the dealer showed me the bluelink, all he did was hit the 'B' button on the rear view mirror and it asked for a command. After I got home with the car and registered for bluelink, anytime I hit the button it connects me to an actual live person and never asks me for a command regardless of whether or not I use the steering wheel voice controls or press the 'B' button. Any idea? I have searched the manual and everything and don't see any information on this. Thanks guys.

Hey Guys. I received my new emblems and vinyl wrap yesterday.

Here is the rear. Very easy- little heat and a nice strong floss or fishing line. I personally think it looks crooked. But its dead center. I think it is because the V logo isnt semetrical and the veloster is dead center.

I decided to pull the front bumper to do the vinyl wrap and front emblem.

Finished product on the front

I personally love the way it looks. I got the vinyl first to see how it looks and I am actually going to have my buddy paint it to make it look better. Looks so clean gloss black.

plate-less in North Jersey

We picked up our gorgeous white Veloster with Style and Tech packages on Memorial Day weekend in Wayne, NJ. It came with the Veloster license plate...

We picked up our gorgeous white Veloster with Style and Tech packages on Memorial Day weekend in Wayne, NJ. It came with the Veloster license plate frames. The dealer prep guys installed the correct one in back amazingly using 6 screws PLUS the two screws that actually hold the plate and the frame simultaneously. 8 screws for one license plate frame! Instead of installing the front one, they jerked around and installed their junky dealer frame and the bright yellow advertising. The problem is they drilled the holes WAY up at the top of the bumper which is NOT where they are supposed to go. At least wen you install the Veloster frame, it will cover the bad holes mostly. It will not be worth the effort to get them to fix these holes and there's no way I could have stopped them from doing it since they make it a point to install their junky frames immediately when the cars arrive on their lot. Oh well. They will be mostly covered. Here's the real problem...... after waiting 3 weeks for the NJ plates, they will not fit the Veloster frames. They are cut too wide AND too tall. Not even close!! You're guessing it's a bad batch of plates, right? How about EIGHT bad sets of NJ plates that came off older AND newer cars so you can't blame a particular batch. So after trying 16 NJ license plates that are all too big, it must be the Veloster frames that are too small. PLUS the vast majority of these NJ plates were installed with other plate frames with no problem. When I contacted Hyundai USA, they of course referred me to the dealer Service. All the Dealer Service did was remind me that although I did try 16 plates (front and rear) , I had not yet proven any of these plates would fit into another set of Veloster frames. TOUCHE! So tomorrow I will go BACK to the dealer where he will take another brand new Veloster frame out of an unsold car and see if my new NJ plates fit. The big question is, what if they don't? And you know I will make them try it in AT LEAST three cars to prove they have a bigger problem than just little old me.... The other questions are, why has Hyundai or the dealer not heard this complaint before and what would have happened if I had the dealer try to install the plates? I mean these plates are not even close to fitting..... NO WAY. Anybody else experience this and if so, what did you do to resolve it, grind the plates down? I wonder how many people don't even realize their plates might be sticking out.
