Are there any dangers of unplugging it? I unplugged it on my turbo and it feels better! Boost feels instant from first to second.. I just don't want to cause any problems? Anyone know EXACTLY what this plug does? Please let me know

So this DIY switch only cost $4.50

I removed the Upper Clutch switch. Two 1/4" Female Terminals slides in easily.
The connector you unplugged can take Two 1/4" Male terminals.
The rocker switch uses Two 1/4" Female Terminals.

    Slide Male terminals to Connector

You will then need to find a place for the switch.

I attached my switch under dash using double stick tape on a metal strap below the fuse panel.

Nicely done! That's basically what I did for mine but I used a 3M toggle switch. Instead of wiring it like you did, I have one small 3" jumper that goes from the stock plug to the clutch switch and another dual wire going from the stock plug to the new toggle switch and back to the clutch switch. I also used the male and female spade connectors as they are a perfect match. No hacking stock wiring for this job!

This is my understanding of it:

All new cars that have been coming out in the last few years have all these new government mandates. Limiting power in the first few years via ecu tuning is very commonplace now for many reasons. One reason is most normal drivers can't handle "full power" in the first few gears (auto or standard tranny) Another reason is to try and improve tire life. Spinning tires can easily reduce tread and subsequent tire life.

So it is my belief, this clutch switch not only helps to limit power (via ecu tuning) so-to-speak but it seems to smooth the transition of gear changes making us think we are a better driver than we really are and to help mpg's and maintenance costs.

As far as whether anything bad is going to happen with this clutch switch disconnected/modded with a switch is very highly unlikely.

Ever since I've installed my switch I used it regularly. I find it greatly improves my driving experience in an otherwise "under powered" vehicle. I only turn it "on" when I'm interstate driving so I can use cruise control. Otherwise it's ALWAYS off along with the TCS.

I have been enjoying car much more with the switch. It occurred to me the other day that like grey ghost, I only put it back in factory mode when engaging cruise control, so why not use the cruise control relay to activate the clutch switch?

I find it wonderfully ironic that the OP of this thread has no idea what the suggestion they made actually does!

I just saw that someone said something about this clutch switch/plug thingy on another thread but no one responded to it so I tried it out and posted it up!

I just don't want to be driving my car around with it unplugged knowing that something might happen and stuff like that....

Well I want to be driving my car knowing something FUN WILL happen since it "wakes the car up" in my opinion.

My VT constantly shows my rpm to be at 0 when idling... I start the car and it is normal and then a few mins later it drops to zero. Very odd.... I plugged it back in cuz of this

I don't think the clutch switch has anything to do with your tach dropping to zero. I'd take it in to the dealer and have them check it out for you. Why would unplugging the switch make only YOUR car's tach be off when no one else experiences this? That IS very odd...

Well, there's a fairly-simple fix for it then....

Are you sure your car doesn't have the 'Stop/Start' eco feature? It would give this effect
