Sweet! So how much better is the transient response since you've taken out most of the restrictions in your system? I'd imagine it should pull a lot better than stock...

I'd also like to know pipe diameter. It looks like he used carbon steel rather than stainless but I could be wrong. I'm thinking he used 2". I think I'll use 2.25" to ensure max flow. I think 2.5" would be just a tad too big.

It does. I feel the torq band alot more in the last 3 gears. Plus it climbs faster in the rev band to 7000k rpm.

I used 2' dia on the section of test pipe and rear muffler section. I left the stock 1.75" dia pipe alone. I beleive any more than 2" in dia will kill you torq. The fact that this engine is 1.6L Variable Valve and Gas Direct Injection, Leads me to say the Engine is Flowing Very well.

Ummm, did you have it reflashed to get it to 7k rpm? My rev-limit is about 6500 rpm. Are you kidding about the stock piping being only 1.75" ?? That's kinda small! I'll surely going to use 2.25" if that's the case... Typically going to .5" larger than stock won't affect your torque. If the valvetrain is correct, going with larger diameter exhaust normally frees up HP without affecting torque. So how did you transition the piping from 1.75" up to 2" back down to 1.75"? If there are any steps here it will harm the flow significantly.

Yes, Use more than 2'' Dia pipe, And You just might lose what little torq we have. I stayed with stock 1.75" Dia or as close to 1.75"-2" Dia. My car still pulls and revs strong. No Torq Loss!

No reflash, And yes, My car limits @ 6980-7k. Manual trans. And, larger dia is good for larger displacement motors,V6-V8 or better, and Boosted motors. But your asking a 1.6L motor to do alot of breathing. The Key is Fast air in, and Fast air out. I>E Intake / Exhaust. But over do it, And you will Lose. Been there, Done that with my Civic, Element, Starion, Toyota pickup etc. But your are most welcome to prove me and the industry wrong. You might discover something About this motor that we don't know about. But remember, You want the Exhaust to Scavenge or Even Pulse, But not Breeze.

Is your Magnaflow 1.75"? If so, please post the part number. I wasn't aware Magnaflow made mufflers under 2". I understand what you're talking about with going with too large of an exhaust. But case in point: A friend of mine took a 100% bone stock 2001 ITR and put a 3" exhaust on it much to the horror of everyone we know... And he made more power over the entire curve than any smaller exhaust he tried. Dyno numbers and transient response don't lie. As I said, if the valvetrain is correct, the exhaust having a smaller diameter to control torque is much less of a variable than you would think. I understand about exhaust gas temps, velocity, etc. Just by using stainless steel, you increase performance of the exhaust because of the way the stainless retains the heat thereby helping to keep exhaust gas velocities up improving scavenging. It's not a huge difference but the sum of all these little differences adds up to the big picture.
