No really, tell us how you really feel. Such a direct attack was never warranted. I don't care what your personal views are. Its just a stupid car, guess what hundreds are made daily. if he felt the situation justified a steeper compensation thats between him and his lawyer.
Personally I think thats a bit low. Is it what you were asking for?

At milo.......Really, what are you? 18? I didn't use mpg as my basis.
At xxx. First communication, we didn't ask for a certain amount...
If they hit you with a buy back offer let me know. I'll get rid of this thing.

Pain and suffering? loss of value?
Too many people are sue happy here(America)
So Hyundai makes a mistake, or got caught. At least they are trying to resolve it. They were down and you kicked them.
Even if I was 18, 20 plus years ago, I would still say the same thing. If you don't like the car, get rid of it.
xxxotiknightz, I like your signature quoted by Mark Twain.
I will make this my final Rant on this Thread

Milo it's so good that you read that. They say admitting you have a problem is the first step. You've recognized you moronic ways and decided to turn over a new leaf. Next thing you know you'll be out of you parents basement and advancing from fry cook to the burger grill. Bravo, you've made me proud.

reminder, personal attacks are never cool, EVER, keep doing it folks and you'll earn a visit to the ban trailer, it's also a great way to get a thread locked.
[/mod tiara]
Also a reminder, the user in question that has talked to a lawyer has NOTHING to do with a class action on the MPG issues, please take that discussion elsewhere as it is OT for this thread.
off to the the dark side
It doesn't? Talking to a lawyer and posting it to this thread suggests that it does. It was also followed up with a dollar amount. If it has nothing to do with the class action, why did it get posted here? And if it has nothing to do with the class action, one must wonder the purpose of posting here other than to fan the flames (which is prohibited on this forum, I believe). I've seen the mod tiara come out for less inflammatory things--if you think that the post about the attorney and the dollar amount has nothing to do with the class action, the posts should be moved or deleted.
That being said, IF the posts about the lawyer and the $1500/$1000 are about getting money from Hyundai due to the MPG discrepancy (the topic of this thread), I believe the poster is foolish. You are not guaranteed that Hyundai will accept. And if they do, believe me, they'll make sure you sign away any right you have in the future regarding your Veloster (and anything else, if they can get away with it, because if your lawyer is happy with a piddly $500, he deserves to have the floor wiped by Hyundai's corporate attorneys). All to (possibly) walk away with a puny $1000 that I guarantee you won't see before the end of this year, and that's being optimistic.
Vitamin C "Dragon"
"...of COURSE you're a girl dragon!"
Suing seems all fine until Hyundai turns its corporate attack dogs on you.
And I mean attack dogs.
They'd take your home and your dog just to make a point.
So enjoy that 1500 dollar win? If you have the kind of lawyer who actually is happy with that then oh boy...I suggest some better counsel.
Also, are you factoring in actual legal costs? Pro bono cases generally merit "Not many ****s" from a lawyer.
Also if you lose, Hyundai can and will petition the court to have you pay for THEIR lawyers time.
So have fun. The case against Honda over their Civic hybrid mileage? Yea that got appealed and I believe the person in question got nothing out of it, yet at any rate. So have fun with suing.
You make it seem so cool till you realize the work and money involved.
The poster in question that's fanning the flames has already said in a post that re: their reason for legal action "I didn't use mpg for my basis"
They also were the OP and the reference to a suit in post #1 is vague and from a series of alternative sources with reference to a suit in Ohio. The OP is clearly pushing a lawsuit agenda IMNSHO.
As far as the tiara coming out, it comes out whenever users of any flavor start personally attacking each other, it has nothing to do with the subject of the thread, and everything to do with the behavior of some participants![]()

I have not read all the posts in this thread, so there's a good chance my point has been covered. However, I suspect some disgruntled owners do not understand that Hyundai's reimbursement offer is NOT a one-time thing. You can apply for a reimbursement every year which will be based on the amount of miles you drove since your last reimbursement and the cost of fuel in your area. In addition to reimbursing your incremental fuel cost (based on the difference between their faulty mpg estimate and the new estimate), Hyundai is adding a 15% "goodwill bonus." This can all be found on their website. It seems very fair to me.

If people can sue, they will.
It does speak more to the hilariously broken justice system then it does anything else.

Keep it clean or this thread is done. If you dont have anything useful to contribute, move along. If people chose to seek legal help or participate in this lawsuit, thats their business.

Its just amazing that people are so quick to sue. the posted gas mileage is in the most optimal of conditions. If i drive like an *******, doing the usual 60ish in a 45 and around 80 on the highway, i get about 35 mpg. If i drive as intended for the car, with eco mode on, doing the speed limit, i easily get 40-42 mpg. Its not like they advertised the car to achieve 60 and were getting 30 or anything, they advertised 40, i actually remember the sticker on my car saying 38 and the Accent with the same drivetrain actually saying 40. But seriously if people are getting that bad of gas mileage, first check the eco mode button. second, how much do you drive uphill. third, how long do you run your car at high rpm? if you drive aggressively, your fuel consumption will reflect that. If you drive easy with the eco mode on, you will very easily exceed the advertised mpg. People are just so quick to put their hand out and take...ive lost faith in many of my fellow Veloster owners. if you are that pissed about the car, then trade it in and get over it.
Its funny/interesting that ppl are using Hyundai's goodwill as a reason to go after them. There have been some on this board that have complained about MPG long before this news broke (mainly due to their own driving habits and or conditions). Hyundai's announcement/mis-statement DOES NOT justify your argument regarding MPG. You drive how you drive regardless of what Hyundai reports. As others have stated, these cars are more than capable than hitting the original EPA numbers. My Eco-coach at any given point can read 40mpg+ (based on how i drive). That alone justifies my argument. For all i care, Hyundai didn't have to admit anything. If no one cared to look into the original testing, no one would know any better as the discrepancy is not noticable. My overall MPG calculated after each fill-up can vary an MPG or 2 just based on how i drive!!!!
