I took my car in this morning to have the mileage verified. I'm looking forward to my debit card! Does anybody know how long it takes?

I think you can spend it on anything you want, but I don't know if you can get cash from it.

Hyundai is issuing debit cards, not gift cards.

11-22-12 Mr. Krafcik e-mailed me and said my MasterCard Rewards Card would arrive in 7-10 days. That means tomorrow or Monday at latest, I should have it.

    E-mail stated:

"Your Hyundai MPG MasterCard® Rewards Card may be redeemed anywhere MasterCard is accepted, at over 32 million locations worldwide. Additional details and activation instructions will accompany your card."

Sorry - I knew what it was, but I didn't know what it was called. It's basically the same thing you get with a lot of rebates these days. You use it like a credit card, but it's only good for a certain amount of money, and then when it's empty you throw it out.

Regardless, to report the wrong mpg for more than one line up is pretty serious. Fact that they can get it right for other markets. . . they must've thought Americans can't calculate by hand -)

And it is cheating. That's why they're paying out a lot of money and there is a class action lawsuit forming.

the problem is gas is too cheap here relative to the rest of the world and you got too many Hyundai owners who are perfectly happy with not getting the advertised mpg so it's no big deal to them so it's just a matter of perspective.

Yep. My GF doesn't grasp why I'm so annoyed. Her jeep gets 18-20mpg so she's ecstatic at the 37mpg highway and doesn't get why that 3mpg bugs me so much.

tell her that for some one who drives 36k miles/yr, that 3 mpg difference calculates to $255 @ $3.5 per gallon. Hyundai is only offering me $155 in rebate. Something is wrong and I'd definately jump in with the class action.

    Yeah... 155 is a joke.
I paid ~18k for my car. at 3mpg and about 20k/year driving that's 140 a year in fuel costs. Even on a short term lease that would be at least three years of that price. for the duration of the powertrain warranty, it would be 700 bucks...

I don't think you want to throw this one out after the money is gone. This card can be refilled annually or whatever period of time you choose and mileage will again determine the dollar amount applied to your card.

Malag- The $155- what was that for? The letter I just opened today from Hyundai says the program will remain in place as long as I own the car...

What's your mileage ? Did you have 36 000 miles on your odometer when you had your mileage checked or you had only 20 000 miles when you got it checked ?

When you get your mileage checked next year they'll issue a card with the corresponding amount if you drove 36 000 miles since your first debit card was issued.

That's the estimate from the Hyundai site I registered on and yes since I bought the car cast October until this October I put about 36K miles on it. I called my local dealer and asked to have it checked and they try to say I have to come in for maintenance or oil change and they'll check that. I told him that's not what the website says then he backed up. I don't have time to sit there and wait 30 to 45 minutes for them to check the odometer. He says they'll do the walk around. For what? just cough up the money!

Really? you just want them to take your word for it? I can not for the life of me understand why you're so incredulous about having them actually verify the mileage. i can't think of a business that wouldn't want to have some checks and balances to make sure no one was trying to scam the system.

You'll continue to get get the card topped off as long as you own and drive the car.
off to the the dark side
