    Passenger side seatbelt warning

    Hi,

My Veloster does not make any warning sound, if the person sitting next to the driver seat has not buckled his seatbelt. The passenger side airbag off light switches off correctly if someone is sitting next to me.

I am not sure if this is what it is in Velosters but I have seen other cars much older than veloster that have the ability to make warning sounds for this issues. I wanted to figure out if it is just my car or is it normal in Velosters ?

    Thanks,
    Ajinkya

P.S. Mods, I tried to look for this thread anywhere on the forum but could not find it. Please direct me there if there is one.

Is there an option to deactivate that alarm ? I definitely have not done that but I will look into it.

No, you can not deactiveate the alarm without doing some serious wiring bypass that is illegal to do.

If the person in the passenger seat weighs over 60lbs, the alarm should go off when you are in drive and the passenger seatbelt is not buckled.

Every passenger I've had so far has buckled up to begin with (they know how I drive). In Florida you can get pulled over and ticketed if anyone in the car is not wearing a seat belt. We all know that you can plug in the seat beat under a driver or passenger and it will stop any warning light from coming on. My suggestion: if your passenger won't put on a seatbelt, tell them to get out.

haha jkt, it was just one of those times, when the person forgot to wear the belt.

My problem was not the person or the lights, it is the warning sound that the car should have made ideally. After that one-odd incident, I take it up on myself to ensure that everyone has wore passenger. But I believe the car should warn me, in case someone forgets.

Hmmmm mine only chimes when mines not buckled. When ever I have a passenger and the passenger air bag turns on cause of their weight of their seat belt is not buckled it does not chime.

Bsadle, that is what happens with me. I know some cars can chime an alarm if the passenger has not buckled, I was expecting something similar from mine.

Any updates? I just bought a 2013 re:mix and I have the same issue. Dings crazy when the drive removes the seat belt but nothing when the passenger does.
