Question Back Window Shattered (Need Help)

Hi guys...and girls since I am one.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that is unfortunately not a Turbo. I got it used last year with less than 11k miles on it and I love it. It's probably my favorite car I have ever had and I have had my fair share of cars.

I woke up yesterday to a shattered back window. It wasn't the small one with the wiper. It was the big one. Thank goodness it wasn't the sunroof, I suppose. I don't know if someone did something to it or if it just happened. The alarm didn't go off and I have no reason for anyone to have anything against me to just do something vindictive. It doesn't so much matter, though, because it is what it is. It's a shattered window that needs to be replaced asap.

I'm trying to set up an appointment to have someone come out and replace it but I'm slightly confused.

They give me to options for which window I need replaced.
Option #1: Heated glass, Solar, Turbo, Upper
Option #2: Heated glass, Solar, Antenna, Upper

Since my car is not a Turbo, then is Option 2 exactly what I need? I have the antenna thing on top of the car but I assume there is an antenna in the window, as well.

If anyone could help me out so that I could go ahead and set up this appointment, I would be very appreciative.

    Thanks!

Option 2 would be the correct selection. Keep us posted.

Yes, the sharkfin structure contains GPS, XM radio and Bluelink antennas, while AM and FM radio antennas are printed onto the window glass, similar to the rear window defogger.

Thanks so much for the replies! I feel a lot better. As soon as I saw the different options for windows, the first thing I thought of was to come here and ask. Someone is going to replace it on Wednesday.

Not only did I get my answer, I learned something about that sharkfin! Thanks for that.

Jut an update. I had it fixed on the 4th by my small town local Auto Glass shop, that I had never even noticed before in town. They gave me a much lower quote than Safelite. Everything seems to be good to go with it.

I do have a question, though. If someone had done something to shatter the window, wouldn't the alarm go off? The alarm did not go off at all. My car was actually parked at a friends house in a larger city near me and I just learned there has been 100 stolen vehicles since Christmas there. I was thinking maybe this was an attempt at stealing it but maybe something spooked someone. What triggers the alarm if not a shattered window?

First, I just realized what you said. If anything, be very thankful that your 2013 was not a turbo because there were a whole lot of issues (engine/transmission) that you don't want to be part of.

On the plus side, glad you found someone to fix the glass to your satisfaction. Not sure about alarms and broken glass but I don't recall anyone with an exploding sunroof ever mentioning an alarm going off but they were always talking about the front sunroof glass panel and not the rear one. What alarm did you have?

Is this the OEM alarm? If yes, the owner's manual is quite useful to find your answer:

    Thanks for the info.

Yes, I should pay more attention to the manual, mdm. I had to pay a bit of attention to it about a week before this happened when my battery died in my smart key. It took me forever to find the page that told me to use the smart key to push in the button to start the car.

2016 got in it's last punches of the year through my car. Stupid 2016!!!

Jkt1954...I guess I'm not so bummed about my car being a Turbo now. Thanks for that info, too.

Seems so weird that someone can smash a window and the OEM alarm won't go off. I like for things to make sense. That doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks again, guys! I appreciate it.
