    Performance Mods

    Hey everyone!

I am looking into installing a few performance mods. Like most people I want to spend as little as possible and gain as much HP and torque as possible. Any recommendations? Cold air intake? New ECU? This website has a few things but I'm not sure if it's all junk or not. HYUNDAI VELOSTER : EnginePerformanceChip: Buy Performance Chips for Cars, SUVs, and Trucks..

If you have any suggestions that are under $400, it would be greatly appreciated!

Tires. The stock tires are horrible and you won't be making much power out of this car. Buying a veloster for performance is just silly. Buy a nice set of tires and go play in the twisties

I really enjoy the car when it comes to country/winding roads, but in stop and go areas I wish I had a little more of a kick leaving the line.

It's underpowered and there isn't much to be done about it. For $400 you might gain around 15hp, you'll barely notice it.

The car wasn't designed for performance at all. This is clear when you look at the engine size, power output, the suspension design, the tires it came with, the pretty restrictive intake and exhaust set up... It's a sporty looking commuter car, that's it.

If you want to waste your money, go to a muffler shop and get a (first) cat back made, delete the second cat, do a DIY intake. You'll be at about $400 and the car will be louder and you'll feel like you're fast.

You should start by letting engine breath. Get a good free flow exhaust including test pipe for the 2nd cat. And couple that with a good intake and that's about it.

I bet I could gain 50 hp by pushing mine of a cliff... Doesn't mean I'm gonna do it!

Top speed?? Once again too many Variables... Height, wind, sunny day, etc... When you take 1/2 GT squared and you... Oh nevermind! It's not the fall that hurts, it's that sudden stop at the bottom that does!

I calculate a 63 hp improvement off the cliff. Under these conditions the NA V will accelerate the same as the VT. Unfortunately the V isn't equipped with air brakes to avoid that sudden stop at the bottom.

Cold air intake and cat back exhaust are about the best performance buys for $400.
