Driving home last night was a mess, not only on the road but also on my windshield. With the snow gradually melting one can imagine what can splatter on your windshield when a 24 wheeler goes past you, but one can't be prepared for that mess if they're out of windshield washer fluid, which I didn't know. Apparently there is NO low windshield washer fluid warning. I thought I had to completely drain all the fluid in order for the light to kick in (not much of a warning), so I held the back wiper spray down for a solid minute until it was dry, still no light. Not a big deal. I guess I was spoiled having that feature on my previous cars. I guess I'm posting this to assist those that are unaware or have used their spray frequently might want to top it up before hitting the streets of slush.

LOL, I mentioned that moths ago when I realized my Elantra doesnt have the light either. Ive been carry a spare jug just in case.

This is very common for cars in this class, and more so in Asian cars.

My 04' Mazda3 has this feature but the fluid spray is extremely useless, its in a stream not a spray.

That's because you're in California.

Try driving for a full year in the St. Louis area. The mixture of road goo, dirt, salt, and industrial funk being churned into a frothy mess by tractor trailers and then slung onto your windshield by EVERY...SINGLE...CAR...you wind up using your washers about once every three minutes.

Factor in that I have a 60 minute round-trip commute and that's a lot of squirts of washer fluid.

I try to check my washer fluid once every other weekend. Sometimes I manage sometimes not...but I have yet to run out of fluid on this system.

As we are talking about washer fluid, I have a question for those who have really emptied the thing.
When you fill it up does it take a full gallon jug, or only a portion of the jug?
Man I hate it when they design a car that does not take the whole jug...

Me too. One thing that drives me nuts is when the Techs at the dealer top it off during a service. I use Rain-X and when mixed with normal fluid it streaks like crazy. I always tell them not to add any, but 50% of the time they still do.

Well there is an easy solution to that...




And once the tape it put over the filler you take a Sharpie and write this on the duct tape
"DO NOT put that blue chit in here, leave my fluid alone"

Well, its not just the snow, its the slosh thats the problem. Give me snow over slosh any day of the week

The whole season we've gotten two major snowfalls here in Toronto, and by major I mean 2-3 inches LOL! So its nothing, it melts within the day, then there are flurries that melt before it hits the ground. Throw in some mud, some salt/brine, some dirt and grass, and presto, slushy goodness flying into your windshield all the time.

We've had a handful of freezing rain and black ice alerts though. Fun when you're alone in a large empty parking lot doing some donuts
