    Question Good deal?

So one dealership I'm working with offered me this deal for a Marathon Blue DCT Base (Including all the 5 add-ons from the factory. ie. floor mats etc.) He wouldn't budge from MSRP, playing the whole "hot car" and "others are putting up a mark-up" (which is true, another dealership in the area has a 1.3k mark-up). So I asked him for the out of the door price since I'm paying cash. What do you guys think?

    MSRP $19,505 USD
    Tax $1,333.46
    Tag And Title $33.50
    Doc Fee $250
    Total Out The Door $21,121.96

He stated that the state of OH charges a Documentation fee of $250 for all cars over $2,500 . It's not a substantial amount. Can someone confirm for me, just so I'm not being played :P

doc fee is limited in OH to $250 per this article: What Fees Should You Pay? - Edmunds.com

i just talked to my dealer and they say they have a down payment match program through the end of the month. you can look into financing $6k (min limit) with hyundai motor credit, that way they match your down payment up to $500. you have to keep the loan for 3 months, then you can pay it off.

What are these add-ons you are referring to?

Are they included at no-charge in the price of the car or added on somewhere? They can usually be had for cheaper on line or at dealers that may offer them for better prices.

The Build & Price on hyundaiusa.com for my area (No VA) states the following for a Base w/DCT
    $19,310 (includes $760 delivery)
$19,685 (+ $375 accessories - mud guard, cargo net, wheel locks, cargo tray and floor mats)
So $19,505 sounds reasonable. Your taxes are 6.8%. Is that correct for your area?

Since you're paying cash, I wouldn't pay any more than 19700 out the door for it. My brother paid cash for his '11 Mustang when it was released (was very hot at the time b/c of significant engine upgrade over previous year) and despite a significant few thousand dollar markup, I was able to get it down to MSRP out the door. If he's going to play the hot car game on you, walk away and at least give him the impression that you're going to take your business elsewhere.

There's an ass for every seat. Yours shouldn't be the one that overpaid for it.

They're accesories from Hyundai. Mud guard, cargo net, wheel locks, cargo tray and floor mats. They are included as a charge added to the car from the factory. Some are very easily physically removable ( floor mats, cargo net and wheel locks ) but since they're not coming from the dealership he wouldn't remove them.

6.75% actually . It does sound reasonable , but I would like to get it cheaper. Since I'm only getting the base, that seems somewhat expensive..

Yeah I didn't open a Motozuma account in time and I'm not financing so I don't think it applies. Since it's a match to your down payment.

So you're saying that I should try to get the actual car for less than MSRP and have a sub 20k out-the-door price? The dealer was very firm. I left him telling him that I wouldn't pay a mark-up if pigs flied and that I'm keeping my options open to find a better deal. So hopefully he calls me back with a better deal?

Correct. Don't pay anymore than MSRP (plus cost of accessories) as your out of the door price, unless you really really need a new car right this instant.

Good job sticking to your guns with that dealership. If they sell it to someone else at a markup, then so be it. Sooner or later there'll be plenty of Velosters to go around. We all want one, but only at the right price.

As for the Motozuma account, you could try arranging for some sort of financing, put whatever (15k?) for the down payment and pay the rest off the next month. The amount of interest you'd pay would probably be less than the $500 match you'd get from them, which would work in your favor.
