Well the main thing is that i now have my magnaflow installed and intake and while i drive i "D" it sounds ok but not very loud. In "Sport" i can make that sucker roar but i don't use "Sport mode in traffic prone areas" but if i can have a happy medium, that be awesome.

ETA: you must have a 2013 V. Mine does not have the DS mode in my manual. Also I tried it and it does nothing but keeps me I'm gear. Meh.

I used the paddle shifters once -- should I reconsider using them? Will I achieve better MPG's driving city?

Thanks for the videos, zolihonig. It's interesting to see how "Drive Sport" mode reacts differently in the two different runs.

I'm sure that the best gas mileage is achieved via the standard "Drive" mode, jkt1954. If you want to extract the best performance, then manual shifting or "Drive Sport" are the better choice.

Yeah, it's weird how I hit 5k RPM's in the second run - maybe it's because I was being a bit more aggressive.

I should do another video with the Sport mode to see when it autoshifts you- probably around 6k or the redline...

Is this only exclusive to US models?

My 2012 Canadian DCT does not have an "S" mode.

Only "D" for auto and then over to the right is the manual shift.

It might be a 2013 thing, not a Canadian/ US thing

Thats what I was wondering. I dont remember seeing anything like this in my US 2012 Veloster. I'll check tomorrow, but I think when I move shifter to the right it doesnt display Sport on a dash, but rather switches to numbers for which gear you are in at the moment. So, I wonder if 2012 even have this mode?

I checked already. Its not in my 2012 V. Same transmission but remember they have a firmware update and we don't for 2013.

Well, if it's just a firmware thing, why wouldnt hyundai do it for the 2012 Velosters? Wouldnt cost them anything, really. This too shows me again how much this company cares about the customers....Oh well, at least its not THAT big of a deal. Although it would for sure current 2012 V owners w/DCT to appeciate this tranny better, IMO.

At the next meetup, can someone with a VT Automatic Shiftronic please Drag Race a DCT in Ds mode and record it?

Would love to see what the real difference is.

I remember a few months ago when FORCE was talking about the VT release and the updates to the 2013 NA-V was that it was going to have a tweak in the suspension or bracing or something like that and also it was getting a firmware (ECU Firmware) update. I asked if this Firmware update would be available to current V owners and he said it was not mentioned. Only reason why I don't see it being available is because it would cost Hyundai per Dealership reflash and they don't want to spend any money on people who already bought their cars. It's not a recall nor is it necessary for the functionality of the car so i'm sure they don't give a crap about the consumer after the fact unless it's warranty related (even then i doubt they really care except to make sure they save money on whatever the issue is). I don't hate Hyundai but that's how corps work.

Another update - spent more time with "Drive Sporty" mode

After driving in "Drive Sporty" mode for more extended period, I have to say that it's a big improvement over just "Drive" mode.

Frankly, I have no problem now with the Dual Clutch Transmission and I urge others to give this mode a try
. "Drive Sporty" or "Ds" mode (again, I didn't name it) solves the problem of sluggish throttle response while still allowing the driver to enjoy a fully automatic transmission.

As shown in zolihonig's videos, "Ds" mode doesn't rev the engine out to redline every shift, but it does shift more agressively than "D" mode. Unlike "D" mode which goes to the highest gear (usually ~1600RPM) very quickly, "Ds" mode keeps the engine spinning around 2500-3000RPM at a cruise. Although not great for mileage and it's a little noisier, holding the engine at the higher level allows the drivetrain to react more immediately. The standard Veloster will never be "quick", but "Ds" mode at least keeps the car from pissing me off as I drive around town. It's also pretty cool how the DCT (in "Ds" mode) will downshift through the gears/blip the throttle as the car slows. If I could make any change to "Ds" mode, I'd probably let the engine go to one gear higher if the engine is cruising (like ~2000RPM).

I'm sorry to hear that the 2012 Veloster doesn't have this mode for the DCT - it really changes how the car drives. If you've got a '12, go to a Hyundai dealer and try "Ds" mode on a '13!

At least I am not crazy...I was beginning to think I was because I had no idea how to get mine to autoshift..

I guess because I have a 2012 Nav which isn't cool enough. That's okay though, I prefer to save gas :P

I'll be trying this after work. For commuting I've been leaving it in D:ECO until I need to tap into the power-band to pass or merge, then, I shove it over to Sport downshift twice and go about my business. I've been waiting to pass the 1000 mile mark before I do any "spirited" driving... and I passed that this morning. >:]

Tried it for a mile or two today. Engine is definitely louder...but in a good way. Felt better off the line. Main reason for getting a V was MPG (had a Mustang), so I probably will leave it in D:Eco, but its a nice option. Maybe in the Spring...

Well, as some people that have this on their DCT say that its a BIG difference in how car drives, I would even be willing to pay for this reflash - whatever they charge for the labour to do it. What I dont like is - hyundai doesnt even offer this as such option for the 2012 Veloster owners. Not good customer service IMO.

Paddle shifters are hard to use when you are in a turn! I'm going to try the sporty drive mode and see how that goes. I think probably achieve sporty drive by turning my traction control off (I only have it on when the roads are wet).

Easy fix. When turning (more than 180° wheel position) I shift with the stick and then I get back to paddles.
