Thumbs up Turbokits.com CAI Review from MiLo

I just installed the Turbokits.com Cold Air Intake. After reading reviews here on veloster.org, I find that this is the best upgrade money can buy to add oomph to the Veloster. Along with removing the clutch switch shown on this thread:
Found the fix for the shift lag - Upper/Lower clutch switches. So amazing.

The car is now more fun to drive. I was a little disappointed at how slow the car goes up hill. But now, I am a lot happier after installing the TK CAI. I tested it climbing two hills this morning. 1 hill was on the freeway, I normally downshift to 5th or 4th gear to maintain the same speed. Today, I stayed on 6th to keep it above 60mph. Another hill I take on the street, I normally use 2nd gear to climb. With more torque, I was able to take on the hill on 3rd gear!!!!!

This intake is definitely designed pretty well. Definitely best bang for buck upgrade.

I am really anxious on mating this system with the Axle Back Exhaust from Turbokits.com

Install took about an hour. Since I was installing the HID kit from Diode Dynamics, I already had the bumper removed which made it much easier to work with.

I am not out to race anyone, I just wanted to have a fun little commuter car to drive.

Questions? don't hesitate to contact me.

    MiLo

I knew you'd like it once you got it installed and road tested. These guys know their stuff Milo. I've had mine on for quite awhile and just waiting to complete the whole system with addition of axle back. 13 h.p gain at the wheels when finished and dyno proven. It sucked after testing the product to have to give it all back for the refinements prior to production run but all for progress in the end.

My biggest issue with the car definitely has to be when it down shifts going up hill on the highway. Have you seen this go away completely? Also, has it improved your overall gas mileage? I'm guessing that you probably can't answer the second one since you've probably had too much fun driving it now lol

I have a M/T but I noticed that I don't have to go down 2 gears any more when going up hill unless it has a 12% grade or higher. Gas Mileage is still the same but yes. it is more fun. I am a heavy foot to begin with so the mpgs are definitely better than that on my minivan and my acura. I am saving $160 or more on gas per month

Simple....When you take it out of the box look & touch the filter for oil on your hands. I don't really remember with mine but if it's brand new what are you concerned about. I will check mine when Iv'e put 10k on it, if it needs cleaning & oil based I'll use my K&N Recharge Kit bought from my old CRX when I had a CAI on that.
Did you send a quick email or phone call to TK for this question.

I've had my Turbokits intake for about 3 months now. In addition to the intake, about a month ago I added a custom-made 2.5" stainless steel manifold-back exhaust system with new catalytic converter and muffler, then down to 2" to the tailpipes. Exhaust system ran me $900 but was very well worth it. I've also disengaged the clutch switch. Now this car is much more fun to drive with much better pickup and a nice little growl sound. Exhaust mated with the intake makes this a whole different car and I now look forward to my commute every morning. I don't look to race either but now I can get out of my own way. Thanks to Dave at CM Performance Exhaust in Margate FL for his custom design and to Robotkilr on this forum for all his help and infinite wisdom. Mileage may have declined by a couple mpg's but that's probably because I drive it a little harder into the higher rpm's now. Sorry no hills down here so I can't comment on that...

Does the sound degrade over time?I heard that straight through mufflers sound degrades in few months to a year and will start sounding bad and start restricting airflow. Since this is stainless steel it should last a long time, shouldn't degrade in sound or performance, and not rust quickly I hope?

There is nothing to degrade, it's 304SS (not 403, that other companies use since cost less) and there is no packaging material in the muffler to degrade sound and performance over time
