Ive decided to sell my veloster

    Hi All

So i've bitten the bullet and decided to sell my veloster. Its just not really practical to put my sons baby seat into and i've got to start travelling a LOT more for work now so i'm kind of tempted to not even replace it.

If anyone is interested, i've listed it on carsales (only white veloster dct in nsw at a fair price :P ) and i am negotiable but no silly offers please.

Its been a fun little car, but sadly it just isnt as practical as i first thought.

    Cheers
    Matt

I have an 2009 i30 SR manual for sale if you're interested in a more practical car. No where near as much fun though...

i thought it was a great 3-person family car . that was one of the reasons it got the nod from the misses.

Just lost patience with the Hyundai dealers and bought a Skoda Fabia VRS. Not as pretty a vehicle, of course, or quite as well equipped as the Veloster Turbo, but about as fast (or maybe a little more it seemed to me, whatever the official figures say). It also has four doors, which I prefer to three (I would have been happier with 2 or 4 in the Veloster, to be honest.)

This particular dealer just seemed keener to do a trade-in deal than the Hyundai dealers, possibly because the supply of Fabias is, surprisingly really, greater than VT's. They gave me a $15k change-over trade-in on my 2010 Focus on a car marked at $28,999 drive away. The best change-over quote I got on a VT was $24k. I'd have gone for $21k, but it wasn't to be.

Good luck to everyone interested in Velosters, Turbo and NA, though. I'm sure you'll love the car. I still like them, just not at the current price.

My wife functioned out of a tiburon with our baby. a newborn click into place car seat fit right in with a little effort. It sounds like you just don't like the car that much. If you did, you would realize how practicle the car is. If we could survive 4 years with a tiburon and a baby, you could do it in a V. Just my 2 cents

I've now had the Fabia for three weeks and absolutely love it. Some think the looks are ugly, but I don't mind: being sexist, it's like finding an average looking woman who's terrific in bed! It's kind of the polar opposite of the NA Veloster, which looks fast, but isn't. In fact, my biggest problem is the disrespect from other road users, particularly gutless diesel 4WD's which keep cutting me off just as I'm winding her up...

Motor Magazine Australia recently tested this car amongst others in the "Bang for Your Buck" challenge in which it finished second to the VW Polo GTI (essentially the same car drivetrain wise), and ahead of the Toybaru twins. Personally, given real world drive away prices are much greater than the official $1000 difference (in my case closer to $5k), I would rate the Fabia on top. Motor Magazine recorded a 0-100km of 6.7 (well inside the official 7.3) and a quarter mile of 14.9.

The motor is a 1.4L with supercharger (for initial impetus) and a turbocharger for mid- and upper-range boost. They overlap in operation, so the transfer is virtually undetectable. The 7-speed dual clutch auto is a marvel, seeming to know exactly when to hold revs (when you're going for it) and when to (quickly) change up for "normal" or more economical driving. If you're on the fence as to whether to take a manual or an auto in a car, this one would sway you to the latter. Just as well, as it's the only choice for this engine at present.

There's a few less toys than the Veloster, but nothing I would miss. It does include DRL's, painted calipers, voice controlled bluetooth etc, so it's not a poverty pack.

Anyway, a few photos, before I let everyone go back to talking about Velosters!

Hmmm, average looking and good in bed or sexy and good in bed?????

Think I will take sexy as long as she can also cook......

Now before any women complain I will also share the cooking, take out the rubbish, help out with house work, have also changed nappies etc......

I respect your decision but I think Skodas are the most boring looking vehicles on the planet and in the case of the Fabia, just ugly. Why would you make a tall hatch that has a plain face a hot hatch? And I've been told that engine and gearbox are just waiting to explode...

    My 2c, as you were.

$9000 savings for the same performance - easy decision, to be frank. I agree it isn't the prettiest car on the market, but at least I don't have everyone trying to race me. For $5000-6000 difference may well have been a different story. I'm also old enough that looks and gadgets aren't the top of my particular list (though I would naturally choose them everything else being equal).

As for the exploding engine and gearbox, quite possible. I guess that's what warranties are for. Hopefully, the Veloster Turbo is fully reliable for everyone on this forum's sake.

fair enough - obviously not as huge a difference for me because I work at a dealership and got the discount but I'd happily pay a bit more for a car that I like the looks of enough to keep staring at lol.

No worries. And I wasn't dissing the Veloster. I was interested in one, just not at the price premium (for me). Happy motoring, everybody whatever you drive.

I guess you'll be changing your sig to Oz Skoda then, and moving to the Skoda forums.

Close. It's "OzFabia" on the British Skoda site. The Australian one is full of tumble-weeds.

    Adios!

Reviving an old thread here guys but after a 1 year fling, I've sold my Veloster +. I've had a few issues along the way which took a little bit of the shine off it all....not to mention I wanted something a little peppier.
Like OV, I've crossed over to the VAG group and purchased myself a VW Polo GTI and I'm very, very happy with it in every respect.

I believe a few people will want the extra pep after a while and I was stunned by a drive of a 2005 golf tdi DSG (and im die hard manual) so at the end of next year when I switch over it will be either the new Aus Genesis Coupe or may end up looking at a Golf GTI or Golf R. Maybe even in DSG!
