What does everyone else prefer when parking their car in the sun?
Close the sun roof blind or raise the sunroof?
Opening the sunroof may let out the hot air but you let more light into the car by not closing the blind.

On a hot, hot day, if I can get at least semi shade, I'll gap - otherwise I'll close and let the heat out when I get there. On the wife's Beemer we always close, then open the roof up with the remote for a while before we get in. Having not had a sunroof on any of my previous drives, I'm used to getting in, dropping all the windows and trying to pump out the heat with the aircon on max.

I shut mine and have he blind shut as well, air con cools the car very quickly.
this one the seats are not getting hammered by the sun from above.
If i can't find any shade I'll open to the tilt position.
In South Florida I always try to find shade first. If impossible, then I'll park in the sun and tilt sunroof because heat rises. Thankfully, as mentioned above, the A/C is excellent. I rarely park with the sunroof completely open just because birds do fly over and humans do other stupid things. Even in my own driveway I had this problem: I left the sunroof open and when I got in the car there were all kinds of flying insects inside and I had to drive with the windows open to get them out. LOL -- live and learn!
Here in AZ, USA (just in case) i always tilt the sunroof even on a 120 degree day. Even with the sunroof and blind closed with a windshield screen deflector the car heats up and fees like a pressure cooker. Just gotta watch out for the surprise dust and monsoon storms.
I'm finding the VT a magnet for mosquito's - even just leaving the door open while I jump out to close my gates and I get two or three in - dunno if they're attracted to Marmalade, or think the leather seats are cows, but boy it's annoying. Stupid thing is I have diplomatic immunity from mozzies, they just don't come after me at all - I still don't want them flying around inside lol

I park in the sun all day at work, I have tried many different combos. For me the best outcome is close the internal shade, then just open the roof in full when I get back. It lets the heat out in no time, then 30 secs later I just close it up again and let the a/c work its magic
My work parking is under cover so I don't park in the sun very often. When I do park in the sun I tilt the sunroof and it does reduce the heat build-up inside the car.
Yeah I park in blistering sun everyday in summer and I crack the sunroof just to the tilt up position and it makes a *huge* difference to the heat inside when i get back and doesn't let any damaging UV light in at all - definitely the best thing to do.
Just have to keep an eye out for afternoon thunderstorms or cool changes but with the roof tilted wouldn't let too much rain in anyway.
Of course all that is a bit difficult at the moment with a sunroof recall happening and a warning to keep the visor shut until its inspected & repaired - but anyway !!!

For those who think keeping the sunroof tilted is cooler, try this. Park your car in the sun all day with the roof and the shade closed. Come back to the car and put your hand on the shade, its kinda warm but not burning hot. Now just slide the shade open without tilting the roof, and put your hand on the glass. Now apply burn cream to your hand, then come back and tell me just how much heat that shade actually keeps out. I realise that some heat escapes with the roof tilted, but I would think that more heat would be created from the exposed hot glass then would be escaping from the open roof.
My car has never been cooler inside than the way I leave it now. At first I just closed the roof, then I got a silver sun shade for the windscreen (that helped a massive amount!) Then I had the rear section of glass roof coated with 2 x layers of 5% tint, 5% on the back two windows, and 20% on the fronts. Car is so much cooler again after having the tint done.
Next step was adding a couple of weather sheilds, I can now keep the driver and front passenger window cracked about 1cm without any rain getting in, lets any heat escape without the huge glass heating element known as the panoramic roof exposed![]()
I spend more of my time in the winter trying to park in the sun to heat the car up than I ever do trying to keep it cool in the summer.

Having just got back from a trip to Whitehorse, YT - I can appreciated the sentiments !!
On that note - they have huge problems up there with cracked windshields etc from trucks throwing up stones on the highways (virtually every car on the road is damaged). How do you go keeping your V out of harms way from all the snow and grit on the roads in Calgary ?
