How much to paint a spoiler

I bought a spoiler as shown in the photo.

    It's unpainted.

My local crash shop has quoted me $360 to paint it gloss black.

Has anyone had a spoiler similar to this one painted?

If so, what was the cost as the quote seems a bit over the top.

Thats sounds realistic. If it needs a decent bit of prep than definitely.

Considering you only have one paint guy in town, he can basically charge anything he wants.
But would agree its not over the top for a quality job.

What? Doesn't it come primed? Even if it didn't a good gun plus the paint is still cheaper than that quote. Or just prep it, and spray can it with the new nozzle type spray paint, the cans have a great tip on them that is similar to a gun, especially for something so small.

I have found a mates mate that can do it for me, he is qualified, has his own booth and is semi retired.

Painted with two pack gloss black for $120, thats a massive saving.

A good choice would have also been vinyl. A couple complex turns but quality vinyl complies with a bit of heat applied.

Local dealer applied some vinyl carbon fiber to a V on the showroom floor. Spoiler was wrapped as well. Looked really good.

Vinyl can look just as good as paint if you take care of it. Fraction of the cost as well, and fully reversible.

I got my spoiler from Korean Imports today.

There are deep scratches, indentations and gouges on the spoiler.

The mates mate is now charging me an extra $120.00 to fill the imperfections with body filler, sand, and prime.

The spoiler was in a right mess, rough as guts finish.

No install instructions and no 3M tape.

Should be ready in 2 days, however, I have to install it myself, that will be interesting?

Could have fixed it yourself and saved $100.

    And how heavy is it?

Picked up the spoiler today, he did a great job turning it into a piece of black art.

I found out that the sequence GT spoiler is made out of wood covered in fibreglass.

The screws that are supplied are crap, I suggest you buy some decent ones if you ever buy the spoiler.

It's very easy for a one man install.

Having a wood centre it is a bit heaver than a plastic spoiler, however, the weight is not excessive and can be lifted with one hand.

The spoiler doesn't obstruct the rear view.

Overall, I am happy with it.

    edit:

When installing the spoiler, you have two 2.5" screws and 4 2" screws, the 2.5" go into the hole that is towards the front of the vehicle.
