    Veloster turbo **** itself

Hey peeps. Picked up my new young gun turbo friday from lancaster hyundai and drove it back home to sydney. To my surprise i get home to find the rear covered in oil. Thought of the bloody tyre shine from the dealer lol so i washed her and put her away for thd night. Only to wake up in the morning to find my new toy sitting in a pool of oil. Going to the local dealer tomorrow to see whats wrong. Its only got 230km on the clock.Very sad day.

Not great, hopefully someone just forgot to tighten the sump plug. Sounds worse though if it only started after it was driven. Hope you get it sorted easily. The oil didn't do any damage to the paint did it?

    Keep us updated!

hey FFEEkY, the paint looks fine i gave it a wash as soon as i got home as i noticed the back window was getting oily. Thought it was just tyre sheen lol i was wrong. Im thinking its a loose sump plug.

^^ Very true considering they only take 3.5 quarts (3.2 liters I think) of oil to begin with!!

Ok guys called the dealer today they said they will send a tow truck to collect it through roadside assist. Funny thing is i have to pay a clean up fee if my car leaves oil on the truck wft.Thats the problem it has an oil leak lol. Anyway the bad news is although its a turbo and 2 days old im still forced to wait 1 week before they can look at it as the dealer is busy over christmas. This isnt good customer service hyundai

First of I would tell the dealer they can shove the clean-up fee, they ordered the tow truck because of their incompetence so they should pay for anything.

In fact they should be paying you to get your garage floor cleaned.

Also waiting a week to identify and fix the problem is totally unacceptable. I would demand to talk to the dealer principal, not the sales manager and have the car looked and fixed immediately and if they can’t they should be providing you with a free loan car.

Phone customer care and make a complaint, that's just not good enough after waiting so long to get your car.

As above, not good enough. They are getting a tow truck because it is leaking oil, so yes it will leak oil on the tow truck, and yes, they will have to pay for it.

Waiting a week for an inspection isn't good enough either. I'm sure they will be able to get someone to it quicker than that. I would be calling Hyundai and asking for a new car, not for the intentions of getting a new car, but simply for them to fix this one quicker. And before they try to pull the wool over your eyes, under the australian consumer law you are entitled to a replacement if it can not be repaired in a reasonable amount of time. And being a new car, 1 week is unreasonable.

Update on the problem with the oil leak after making a complaint on hyundais facebook page for all to see. They contacted me within 10min. The sent the area manager down to the dealer to inform them they are to start asap and not have me wait 1 week before they even look at it. WOW the power of the net.

No one likes a complaint- especially a public one!
Twitter and Facebook are definitely your ally against huge corporations.

Also, if they can't fix it, or the issue crops up again, familiarize yourself with your states lemon law.

Totally unacceptable response from your dealer - but good to see the response from Hyundai. I would be looking for another dealer for future services. I have just ordered a Turbo so I am concerned that you had such a problem at all. And yes it's always a good idea to complain politely in the first instance but progressively escalate if you don't receive the right support. The power of consumerism - if there is such a word.

Hopefully the problem will only be minor and you will be back on the road straight away. If it's serious I would be pushing for a replacement vehicle. Should not have got past factory and dealer inspections before being provided to you.

They should be able to get the parts needed the next morning after ordering and install them immediately they arrive, from where I sit they could have you back on the road at lunchtime tomorrow.

However, that's only if they want to.

Contact Hyundai and get it expedited.

did you buy it from lancasters of singleton ? never heard a good report from anyone about there service and here is a another example. Hope you didn't leave good feed back on hyuundai's dealer experience survey. you should ask how much oil was left in the sump after they fix it. oil starvation will damage alot of critical internal engine componants and may shorten your engine life considerably be on the look out for unusual engine noises afterwards.......... sorry about the gloom but i would rather be told the truth myself
