    How different is the genesis?

Bought the car about two months ago after I test drove it. Loved it ! Econo car that was high tech and looked better then half the cars on the road

But now it's estimated I won't get it till spring so I'm guessing another 3-4 months

Question is : would I be happy with a genesis? I paid $29,000 for my VT in calgary, Alberta, how much is a genesis with equal options and power?

Equal options and a lot more power would be a premium model Genesis. They are about $29k plus tax.

Depends what you really want. The Gen is a sports car while the VT is an econo car. ThebVT will be more practical, better on gas, cheaper to own, etc. the Gen will be faster, handle better, easier to modify.

I agree...very different cars..Had a 2013 Gen coupe base and just got into a VT. There is a $500 difference between the VT and base Gen. I noticed the VT has a more liner turbo spool while the Gen Coupe gives you a bit of a kick. VT gives you more bells and whistles for approx the price of a base gen. Ask yourself if you want all performance or you like you gadgets, FWD or RWD, 2 doors or 3 doors, hatch or trunk.

Gen Coupe definately has a more sporty driving position. VT is more practical.

    i'm with mtd...where to begin?

    vt uses the 1.6 gamma-t 200hp/195ft/lbs (twin scroll turbo...about a 13g). GDI...better fuel mileage
gc uses the 2.0 theta III (3?) -t 275hp/ 274ft/lbs (larger twin scroll turbo...about a 19g)...both motors have an integrated manifold. Still uses port injection

    fwd vs rwd

    interiors are way different

vt is much smaller and nimble.

The 3.8 is GDI, the 2.0 is not.

I think once the turbo came out, everyone thought the Velo switched from a econobox to a sports car.

Thank god it didn't. The GC isn't going to give you 27 MPG combined.

I like the description from C&D

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo First Drive – Review – Car and Driver

With the Turbo, Hyundai recognizes and celebrates the Veloster as a sporty car, not a sports car. If that sounds like damnation with faint praise, it’s not.

No such thing as an FWD sports car

yup, and no such thing as a fuel-efficient RWD car.

A RWD vehicle is inherently less fuel-efficient than its FWD counterpart because of the added weight of the drive shaft and rear differential and the drivetrain power loss that comes with them.

    So pick your poison

I get about 21 mostly city. 24-25 combined would be possible. Depends on the model too. The Genesis 2.0 auto is a pig on gas compared to all the other ones.

    Sonata 2.0T GDI
    Genesis 2.0T not
    Genesis 3.8 GDI

The Genesis 2.0 is one of the few Hyundai/Kia motors that isnt GDI. Performance over economy I guess. My new 3.8 is only slightly worse on gas then my old 2.0.
