And there are a number of sources that state things along this same tone or type of comparison. I can't find the press release I found the other day that state that when they were producing the Veloster Turbo, their bench mark was the VW GTI. When I find it I will post that particular article to. But search anything about the VT and GTI and you will get so many sources that says Hyundai says this Hyundai says that. They are definitely the target market!

We have indeed stated the GTI is a competitor, in the simple sense that's it's a FWD sport compact with roughly 200 bhp.

I see it as being a good fight. Remember that the GTI also doesn't get a limited slip... It has a silly electronic system that brakes the inside wheel, thus overheating the brakes if used too often.

What about from a dig? My Caliber SRT4 used to have a Brake Limited Differential that would shift break power from one wheel to another when ever it detected spin. Honestly, it worked halfway decent. Not as good as a true LSD, but it did get the job done to a point.

And that car had 310WHP, 300WTQ and i was able to run consistent 2.0-2.1 60' on 225 Eagle F1 street tires. So i'd say that it worked halfway decent. But on the other foot, the VT isnt putting down 300ft/lbs from the get go, so not having a LSD might not hurt it THAT much.

A LSD is not intended for straight-line performance... It's to help when there's a differential in the front wheel speeds. The LSD would help in the corners, more precisely putting the power down on exit.

So i went to the toronto show yesterday .. Long ride but worth it ... Didnt see force do they where to many reps there anyways the lady there that was talking in the mic advertising the new models said we will the the elantra gt and coup by may and the vt in june or july ??? Force get your reps the good info or what lol i dont know what to think now ??

It does help with straight line performance on a FWD car, it helps deviate some of the tq-steer. But I'm not saying it ONLY matters for a straight line.

I can see why Hyundai didn't add one to the factory, it would probally be a 1200-1400 price increase on the car. I would just have liked SOME sort of LSD, be it a Electric Break Differential like in the GTI's, or a true LSD. I never plan on Auto Xing the car or taking it to a track day, but i do enjoy the occasional romp through the back roads and bracket racing the 1/4 mile.

But really, it is all a moot point until the car is released and real world results come out.

I'm looking forward to testing the FR-S and BRZ. Based on how the 2.0T R-Spec felt behind the wheel, I have a distinct impression the Scion and Subaru have their work cut out for them.
