Well I was at first kind of disappointed with myself for not getting the tech package but I got over it and decided to set out on my quest. So I went ahead and made this.

Very very nice, you said you made that?

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Manual in Marmalade
Yeah I did. Had to piece together some different stuff but it works awesome. Looks like it was made for it.
I got the case from ebay of an elantra. Then had to get the board from the alarm fob to fit in there with a little help. The next thing is that you have to make the veloster key fit so it takes some cutting and grinding which is the scary part because those keys aernt cheap if you screw up. Then just make it all fit together. I would say it took me about 3 hours because the veloster key is huge and needed some finesse grinding.
For the people who aren't mechanically inclined to grind down the key, I've seen kits available online - I don't find one for the Veloster in a quick search now, but I'm sure there are compatible ones out there - it comes with a blank switchblade key that you can have the dealer cut. Here is one for the Santa Fe so you can get an idea what it is. detail KSPEC KDM Performance Center I've also seen DIY threads on other Hyundai Forums. You can also buy the push button to do the push button start (Shark Racing has those), you just still have to use the key in the wheel, then start with the button.

Good luck finding one for a veloster. Trust me I looked for many hours all over the place. But when you do find it let me know so I can get a backup for my other key.

There is no chip in the key. I just cut the black plastic of the key and grinded the key down to fit in the switchblade.
Ballsy.
I have scoured the internets trying to find one that comes with a blank Veloster key that I can have cut.
All that chopping and grinding away at a perfectly good key just gives me the creeps.
I'm thinking about just buying a replacement fob from eBay to stick into that all in one fob from eBay.
And if I can find a place to make me a duplicate key then I can chop and grind.

i did this with my corolla key. it was easy... although the plastic is very cheap and after a few weeks the key wobbled in the housing.

Yes ballsy. I'm not gonna lie it was very scary at first especially since you can't buy key blanks not even from the dealer because they are laser cut by vin# for $80 so it got even scarier to start hacking away at mine but in the end I'm satisfied with the result.
can you take pictures of the process? or take pictures of the inside. i thought the transponder was inside the black rubber of the key
so where is the transponder located at??
The veloster doesn't have a transponder in the key.
Anyone know if there are already Veloster specific fobs with blanks and what not?

vtwin,
can you take pictures of the process? or take pictures of the inside? do you have a link to buy the flip key you got? also did this flip key come with the key or was it just the shell? thank you VTwin
thats the key that i bought and changed the blank for my veloster key. i havnt been able to find a key blank of a veloster for less than 80 bucks. the dealer said they are laser cut by vin # in korea and then shipped here so getting an extra is expensive.
The Dealer is only partially F.O.S. - the keys aren't cut with a laser, they're milled, probably with a purpose-built CNC machine. A quick, close look at any of them will reveal tooling-marks.
Blanks are indeed not-yet available in the USA Aftermarket. Even if they become as such, your typical workaday-locksmith will likely not have the machinery to reproduce them. However, IIRC the Honda Ridgeline has a similar key, and as I understand it some locksmith's have invested in the mill to make these - so there may be some hope of a key that won't cost half a car-payment to obtain a spare....
