Okay guys, time for my second how to.

Changing your map light bulbs for LED bulbs =D



Simple as pie, there are two ways to go about this.. i will post the easiest one first..

Easy way- (only good for led bulbs, not led board's

1- Open the sunglasses holder on the maplight housing.


2- Grab the actual clear light housing from the inside and pull out the
housing.


3- pull out the bulb, put yours in and your done



Way #2
Hard way- Not really hard, but this way requires two more steps, and can will give you easier access to the bulbs so you can insert a led board style light.

1- Open the sunglasses holder in the maplight housing.
2- Inside the sunglass holder housing there are two phillips screws, take these out.


3- pull the entire housing out (from the windshield towards you).


4- Remove the two wires holding the housing in place by pressing on the clips on them..


5-You now have access to the housing.
6- Grab the actual clear light housing from the inside and pull out the housing.


7- remove bulb, insert your housing, follow steps in reverse and your done!

what size LED's are required for the map lights, can you please send me a link for ebay, or wherever i can buy them? they arent at auto zone are they? thanks- Evan

These were not ordered VIA ebay, these are circuit board style custom LED's. ordered from The World No. 1 LED Tuning Brand exLED|exautomall

You can however order some normal LED bulbs from ebay or many other vendors, but i am not sure of the size as i ordered these in a kit..

I, too, performed this mod this weekend. I used the same part numbers (from SuperBrightLEDS.com) as listed in the link, except I used 'Cool white' rather than the displayed 'Warm white'.

I like the looks but i wish you had some more detailed photos. The led's you put in are they connected to circuit boards because you couldn't really just pop an led bulb in because you need a resistor in series to cut the current.

Where you able to remove the little light bulbs ? (the make up mirror)

I never attempted to (even though i have the LED's to put in there) i figured it just wouldn't be practical considering those are mostly used for the mirror, and the yellowish light gives a more natural ambiance.

I'm trying to install the vanity mirrors but when i start putting in the bulb the light starts to turn on and i have it in the off position, makes me feel like I'm going to get electrocuted and I'm a noob at these things lets just say it took me almost 1 hour to install the map lights lol I felt like i was breaking the plastic as I pulled it off. Anyone got a suggestion or can take a pick of how they did it
