Installed mine over the weekend. Everything is a lot brighter now. (sorry, no pics)

    Here's what I used:

Map and trunk lights: 31mm 1W 50-Lumen 6500K 12x3528 SMD LED Car White Light Bulb (12V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
License plate lights: 1W T10 White Wedge Signal Indicator Lights - Pair (DC 12V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

The map lights were a bit of a tight fit, but they work fine once installed.
The license plate lights could probably be replaced with something that shines downward instead of across, but they are bright enough that it really doesn't matter (they still light up the pavement quite well).

Total cost: $11.59 US, with free shipping.

My licence plate looked like that too until I reversed the right and left plastic bulb holders.
The incandescent bulbs put out an omnidirectional light. The LEDs are very focused and those
bulbs put the light out at the end. If you just replace the incandescent with the LED it will light mostly the corners as juscelino showed us. copied here:

Reversing the plastic bulb holding fixtures changes the led orientation such that they point to the center of the plate, giving results shown (on the second try) like this:

Great guide! Just replaced my maplights thanks to this thread but I'm having a hard time replacing the trunk light bulb. I've removed it from the car, but I can't remove the housing to get access to the bulb. Would appreciate any tips!

You have to use a slim flat blade screw driver and push the black tabs back and slide them over the metal part of the bracket. It takes a little wiggling and alternating, but you will work the black plastic part off. Then it is easy. That will make sense if you have it in your hand I hope.

Here is a pic of my trunk with a stage 3 blue from Diode Dynamics

I got the white stage 2s from Diode Dynamics, got my tag lights and turn signals from autolumination.
Stop PM'ing me, I'm not coming back.

Hey thanks a lot for the response! I'll give it another go soon, on a related note, what's the best way to replace the licence plate lights? I popped out the housing but I'm not sure if I should try to remove the clear plastic somehow to gain access to the bulb because unlike the dome light it seems much harder to slip a fingernail/screwdriver in and pop it out.

once you remove the housing for the plate lights, they just unscrew from the back, they're on kinda tight at first. i also swapped the housings when i did mine, the default pattern was / \ and after the switch it's now \ / so the plate itself is much more illuminated vs just the far sides.

Thanks! This worked perfectly, I tried twisting it the first time around but it didn't budge so I assumed there was another method. Mine was locked in so tight I had to use a tool to twist it open. Switching the pattern of the housings was also a great idea.

I also finally got the black plastic out of the housing for the cargo light, that was troublesome. I think though the LEDs I have might be the wrong size. I have something like this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/250965136708?...e=STRK:null:IT basically the same LED for my dome light/map lights but they seem too big to fit between the copper connectors?

I ended up shoving it in there and it works great. At a bit of an angle and the black housing isnt 100% locked in because the LED I have is a bit wide, but I can live with it. Thanks for all the help guys.

Here is a GREAT detailed, hi res video, of how to take apart ALL the lights in the interior.

The license plate lights are different but all the rest is the same.
