Angry Is it just me, or is blue-link a giant POS?

I'm so entirely frustrated with Hyundai and blue-link. I was actually looking forward to trying out some of the blue-link features, to decide if I wanted to keep it and what tiers I would get.

It was working briefly when I drove home, I hit the blue-link button and asked to navigate to a specific address, which it downloaded to my Nav unit after a minute or two...not to mention it had to ring 5 times before an AUTOMATED machine picked up...it would have just been faster to type the address into the nav unit. I also opened up the iPhone app, logged in, and tried the remote start function, which took longer to start my car than it would have for me to take a shower, get dressed, go outside, crank the car, and come back inside.

So then after a day or so, it quit working. I logged into MyHyundai for the first time changed my password and pin (took several attempts, the site kept crashing). I tried Firefox, Chrome, and IE, and they're all buggy. So finally yesterday I started calling Blue-Link, they tell me they have no record of me, even though the dealer said he set it all up for me. They say I need to login to MyHyundai, go to 'blue-link subscription maintenance', fill out the info, and I'll be fine. Oh, except the SITE DOESN'T WORK, and they don't know when it will be back up.

So I try again today, I login in, click the button, it redirects me to the home page, I try a couple more times, and I get in, but then I'm prompted with:

    "•
We are unable to complete your request because the vehicle owner information is not available. Please contact Blue Link Support at 1-855-225-8354 for more information."

So I call the friggin' number, so the Blue-Link people say the problem is on the Hyundai side, that they need to clear out my vin-number (even though it shows on the website). So they transfer me, and Hyundai says they're crazy and their website just isn't working right, so they're transferring me back.

After over 45 minutes, they tell me to delete the car from MyHyundai and readd it, then register. So I'm in the process of that right now, but still, this is NOT making me want to renew the subscription.

Why have a remote start if it takes forever for it to work anyway...

It took me more than a month to get my account going last Sept/Oct. Since then it has worked fairly well. I have MT, so I don't get remote start, not that I would use it anyway. I don't see the need for the guidance package along with the Tech NAV unit.

Well you certainly earn your moniker of being Angry for that posting!

The Bluelink issues you're having seem to be all set up related and it sounds like the vehicle and account were never set up properly by the dealer, and this is one of the things Hyundai realizes, the OOBE (out of box experience) for users should be perfect or they walk away from the service, in most cases Hyundai and the dealers get it right.

You're making a judgement on a system that's in a car that was set up wrong and while it's understandable, it's not a true reflection of the service. After they get their screw ups resolved play with the system, there are a lot of things to like about it.

    I'm rethinking my BlueLink experience.

    1) Weather -- really? And is it any more or less accurate than what I hear on the radio or television? Not really needed.

    2) Traffic -- has it ever kept me from running into a traffic problem. NO. Can it assist me in finding an address - YES -- it IS good at that. It seems to only report DOT road blocks and never anything just occurring.

    3) Help -- haven't needed any roadside assistance yet (9 months) but kind of think this is what is REALLY for! I have to say if I had been driving any of my last 4 Nissan's in the past 17 years and they had had this feature, I would have already had to have used it on all 4 of them! : )

Knock on hard plastic, this car has been the most trouble free of any car I have ever owned. No wonder I love it so much!

I'm not so sure it's in the set up. I've been subscribed to and using bluelink since last September and suddenly today I can't log in, my email address is not recognized.

Ok....I feel a little better that mine wasnt working for me. I did not get anything set up by the dealer though....

When I created an account on MyHyundai and tried to subscribe though I had the same issues as AngryAnt! it just keep bringing me back to the home page with me logged out or the processing symbol stayed up for like 15 minutes.

Any ideas on what to do about this fristrating issue?

I'm not experiencing any BL issues. Site works using Internet Explorer 9. Log-in every time, though it is possible they were having issues with the site when I wasn't using it. I haven't really used many features so far but will give it a work over now that some are reporting problems. I used the unlock and turn on lights feature. Both worked within a minute. I am MT so remote start is not an option for me.

    Sorry for your frustration, AngryAnt.

Last week they have been upgrading their systems. Actually on Friday at the dealership we couldn't even complete the sign up procedure. But today it all worked flawlessly. I was able to register my VT and started to play with it. Remotely locking/unlocking doors, flashing lights, horn is so cool. The delay is about 30 seconds but it's still pretty awesome.

I agree that part of the fault is with the dealer - but speaking as a software developer with experience in enterprise web applications, a good bit of fault lies with Hyundai / Bluelink as well. Their "compatible" browsers are older versions of browsers, and anything else yells at you. Oh, for IE 9, make sure you have "compatibility mode" checked, or any pop-ups is just going to give you the top left hand corner of the main page behind it.

And assuming that upgrading their website is problem here, that means they must have a really terrible / lazy QA department if some of these bugs couldn't be ironed out before a production launch. Several times while logging in parts of the page just show up with "this module is not available." and I've gotten multiple stack traces where their server code exploded, which is a huge security issue. The wrong person could use those stack traces to potentially hack the website.

Their tutorial videos say you go login, and remote start with pre-set climate controls, anybody found this to be accurate at all? I just wanted to be able to remote-start where my car would be less than 109 Fahrenheit while leaving work, but so far if I hit remote start while I"m in the office, the car hasn't even started yet by the time I gather my things, and find my way outside the building and across the parking lot (3-4 minutes).

Hello AngryAnt. Make sure you have the lastest IE installed. My suggestion is to use Chrome from Google. It it way more reliable than IE. Now, they may have been having issues with the website. Keep in mind this is something new and they keep changing it and upgrading it.

I think your problem stems from the sales people at the dealer. They don't know what the hell they are supposed to do to enroll you in BlueLink correctly. My sales guy knew pretty much, but he still had to call in the IT guy because he did the enrollment as if it was me doing it, instead of via the Hyundai Assisted link. Go back and have them cancel the enrollment and do a new one via the Hyundai Assisted link.

As to the remote start, if you are experiencing bad weather, like really cloudy, the process takes longer. If your car is inside a parking garage, or under a car porch, it may not work since it may not read the satellite. I have done it many times, and it works great. Mine started yesterday in less than 30 seconds. I used my iPod to send the command while I was in my room (second floor). The car was on by the time I went down to my kitchen. It can be that quick!

I don't think that you can do remote start with pre-set climate controls via the remote start app. I think they mean that you must have left the climate controls on and in a specific fan speed in the car (pre-set) so when you turn it on, they are ready to go.

My friend was driving the car the other day, and he set off the panic alarm, and I immediately received a message about it, with the exact address where it happened.

It works, you just have to live with a few hickups. BTW I agree that navigation is not needed since you have the GPS already. The only advantage is that you download them to your car.

Voice text messages are a Bluelink feature and require at least the middle level, however bluetooth phone integration is stock with the car, no subscription is needed.

I have the latest version of every browser known to man, though Chrome is my first choice usually. It was acting odd in Chrome, so I swapped to IE9, then over to firefox, and even safari for the heck of it. The site is very buggy no matter which browser you're in.

Also, for what it's worth, Chrome self-updates in the background. You should never have to "go update it".

I guess you tried on the wrong day at the wrong time then. In my experience, I have not had problems with that webpage. Hope you sort things out soon.

So if you get the car and don't get blue link - you still have navigation and gps? I'm confused... what's the poit of blue link then? I have an android smartphone that has the best guidance I have seen with google nav so I can't imagine the blue link being better.

How much is the subscription? I am picking up my Ultra Black w Blue int 2013 Veloster Turbo w Ultimate package on Wednesday for $26,000 out the door flat!
