Least expensive way to increase sound

Hi everyone, i did some searching but couldn't find the answer. What is the cheapest way to increase the power of the sound system. Can I just purchase an amp without replacing the speakers?
Sorry I'm really not that smart on this subject.

If you have the basic sound system (not the dimension system) then adding an amp to those speakers will more than likely blow them, don't do that. Your best bet would be to get new speakers and then add an amp to them, your HU won't be able to power them without an amp really. I don't think there really is a cheap way to get a bigger, better sound out of stock speakers. Maybe someone who does will chime in.

I added a Kicker 12" Powered sub and it did the trick.

It's not competition grade or trunk rattling but it's definitely I great upgrade to the stock system.

Now, with a simple download of the DPS Plug-In, you can attack the audio signal at the source and remix it on the fly for optimized playback on your existing hardware.

I can't find details of where to get it and how to install it on the headunit??

Doesn't really matter for Aussies, I just received this from Hyundai Australia

Thank you for contacting Hyundai Customer Care.

If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod, the app looks like it can be used to 'tune' the music for the Veloster sound system - I'll throw it on the iPad and test it out when I have some free time.

Ok, that makes a bucket load of difference to the sound output from the iPad - just tried it with the inbuilt speaker, earphones and an external boosted speaker I have - will play with bluetooth tomorrow, looks like its worth having, even if I just end up boosting the quality from the iPhone in the long run.

Hi I actually emailed futureacoustics which will be the distributor of the DPS module. They replied with the following email...

" Thanks you for your interest in the Bongiovi DPS. The Veloster product should be available soon form your Hyundai Dealer, please note our Technology is applicable on BASE Stereo systems. If your Veloster has an upgraded system such as infinity our product will not be applicable."

Ive got the Dimension System guess Im SOL Oh well.

Sorry for forgetting about this thread. The system is a hardware "box" which is installed behind the glovebox, which has its own wiring to the back of the headunit as well as to the amplifier. It is NOT a software/firmware download. It is recently available to US-based VELOSTER cars but you will have to ask your dealer if it is available to Australian cars as well. I have the top of the line VELOSTER and I can tell you that it has made a world of difference to the stereo sound, so I have no idea why anyone would state it is only meant for base stereo systems. That is simply not true.

Hey short circuit. So your saying you have this installed already? How much was the part. I'm fully aware that it is a module and not a software upgrade. The info I provided is directly from bongiovi sales rep.

I paid $400 USD installed. I think the part sells for $350 and they charged 1/2 hour labor to install.

I don't know what you're exactly asking, but I believe the answer is YES. There is nothing new or different with the GUI of the stereo. Its just that this module takes the output from the head-unit, cleans up the signal paths and optimizes frequencies and sound levels in a proprietary way based on the company's study of the VELOSTER interior and where all the speakers are placed, and then sends that data to the amp, which pushes out the sound to the speakers. I have found a fairly dramatic difference in the before and after since installation, so I am very happy. For those not wanting to replace speakers and/or AMP, this is hands-down the simplest upgrade one can get for the stereo which makes a measurable difference.

Hi Short Circuit... just to confirm you have the Dimension sound system in your VT? It should say Dimension on the door speaker grill.

I was saying is it something I can buy and i do myself like it's a harness that just plugs in and no wiring is necessary

I saw a pic of the module and it looks like plug and play.
