I like that. I'm not a fan of the exposed USB because it makes it easy for people to see what you have. That's a pretty good solution!

I was thinking about seeing if I could run a usb splitter in the dash and run a new usb port to the center console for an external or ipod or whatever. That way everything would be hidden and there wouldn't be any exposed wires. I just don't think I have it in me to take the new car apart yet.

Thank you guys!! I made a small hole on the bottom and ran the cable through the
back of the console so that it come out through the glove box.
I mainly did it cuz I was tired of seeing lots of cables and the ipod expose
making it tempting for anyone to break in to my car..

I too have my ipod connected to my V and don't like it looking all loose there.

My solution is getting a super small usb drive (16gb) and never disconnecting it.

Will post before/after pics when it arrives.

In the non-frozen tundra months I also leave my 160GB ipod classic in the car hooked up and inside a nice black neoprene sleeve, you can't even see it or the cable from outside the car.

I got the 8g version of that and finally filled it up with songs and stuck it in. The way the car's built, you can't even see it.

You guys who do USB drives for music- quick question- will your V play MP4's from the drive or did you have to convert any MP4's into MP3's? Also, have you guys got folders to work? My V won't read folders. My music is a big jumbled mess with no rhyme or reason...

No it will not play MP4 but I found a cool app which converts an iTunes playlist to an mp3 catalog. If you have take the time to enter album art onto iTunes it inserts the art into the mp3's and shows the art when playing the music.

The app is called TuneClone and is about $35.

Also, does anyone know if the USB port has enough juice to power up a USB hub?

Been thinking about sneaking this hub into the glove compartment or center console in a similar way. Leave a couple of ultra compact USB drives connected and also cables for iPod and iPhone and such.

Just gave it a shot. The hub works but only recognizes one drive at a time.
