It's in the right section, and some folks really like to talk about their guns, I say let them..
FWIW It's a very common subject in the Off-topic sections of most forums.

of course if you ask them, my living in a "nanny state" where firearms are very difficult to buy and license is just another of societies failings :-)

I agree with Dianebrat. It's in the correct section and violates no rules. The best bet is to not open the thread if you don't want to read it. In all honesty this thread probably shouldn't be here as this should have been a PM to a MOD and not a new thread so.... IBTL!!!??!!

unfair comments on me when you don't know me. Living in a country where legal firearms are nit as readily available makes it hard to understand. As an ex cop I hope we remain as divided in this as we are. In my concerns I never made any personal attacks. And in the spirit that forums are about and indeed allow topics like that to be posted I would gave thought I would be able to make my concerns without lowering to personal attacks.

It's not like its a troll thread meant to upset. The thread is for pictures of people's guns and to talk about guns and similar things.

The only bad that came of that thread were the trolls that came in just to spread lies about guns having free will and being violent. The people that are participating in that thread for what it's supposed to beseem to enjoy the thread.

I could sort of see the problem of the thread was titled "gun debate" or "anti gunners suffer from a mental disorder known as hoplophobia" or "let's see your killing machines that you use for crime", but the thread is for gun enthusiasts to share pictures and talk about a common interest.

Pot has been mention in this thread. I personally hate pot, but I think anyone that wants to smoke it should be allowed to, it's not mine or anyone else's call to tell them what they can or can't put in their body. It doesn't affect me.

My guns do not affect anybody, and I appreciate a mature understanding of that, and the ability to share a popular interest of mine so long as it continues to not personally affect anyone.

Further, as motioned the thread is in OFF topic, meaning not of the main forum topic. While you are correct that this is a car forum, you are incorrect in your thought that every sub forum must be about cars. (hint- that's the reason that off topic is there)

There is an off topic thread for dog pictures. I know some people that are absolutely terrified of dogs, does that mean that thread shouldn't be allowed? No, their irrational fears are for them to deal with, and they need to let dog lovers go on loving and sharing pictures of their dogs, not go to a dog pictures tread and complain that there are pictures of dogs in it.

I dont smoke it myself, but of course know tons who do. I dont think they can compare. Everyone here is used to it, so thats all they smoke. Not like they import lower quality stuff from TO or something.... :P

i think you're missing the point. as someone who has been a member on many different forums with specific subject matter, there is almost always a section dedicated to all discussion that has absolutely nothing to do with the initial forum topic.

Im all for heavy moderation of the actual Veloster sections of this forum, but an off topic section implies a certain sense of freedom to talk about whatever.

on that note, it's called the "Off-Topic" section, not the "Off Topic as long as Bobadam approves of the content" section. This is the internet, and it gets WAY worse then people posting pictures of guns.

The best way to destroy a forum is to over moderate it. I see no reason at all why the mods would need to do anything to that thread.

I would however suggest this, if you find a post or a thread you don't like, then go past it and ignore it. Just because some of us have different interests does not mean we should ban all things non Veloster related.

If a subject offends you, then don't read the thread, really as simple as that. Move on, this is our forum, not your forum...

Guns ok, weed bad. As others have mentioned, it is in an off topic section and a huge part of most peoples cultures. The thread will remain open unless it starts breaking rules or offends more then 1 or 2 people.

I have seen car forums with nudity and porn on them, so guns is nothing in comparison to what could be discussed.

I always encourage users to report inappropriate posts or people and ff you dont like a person or topic, then simply ignore it or them.

I see smellypandas name at the end of a thread and I can just imagine what he is babbling on about lol.
