    Talking Need your opinion..

Hey guys I bought a set of USED BBS CK wheels for my V but arent too happy with the condition because of
the one-two curb rashes and small road debris damage(chips) here and there, I mean they are not bad but im kinda
anal about my wheels and want them brand new looking =)
Couldnt pass out on these got a great deal..

The colors im thinking of powdercoating them:

    Silver

    Graphite

Full polish (not PC, cost more but since im already reconditioning them why not)

Need your opinion.. Keep in mind my V is IMsilver..

this is how bbs ck look

    Thnx in advance,
    toHn

Think a lot would depend on the colour of car you are putting them on, very nice though.

    My order would be
    Graphite
    Polished
    Silver

The reason i have put silver last is that you want the wheels to be different and stand out from the standard.

This should help your decision. I made these look as much like "graphite" as possible. I think it looks sick...

graphite or gunmetal. darker the better but not black on a silver car.

It would be more costly but maybe a graphite/black face of all the spokes and rim edge and silver inside the windows? All powdercoat naturally

If those are forged wheels, you might want to contact BBS first before you powdercoat them. I'm fairly certain they will tell you not to powdercoat them due to the heating process prematurely aging/damaging the structural integrity of the wheels.

I would go graphite also, but I am biased as I plan to go that way with my IMSilver when I get wheels this summer.

When has a forging not been able to take excessive heat? Forged pistons can handle well over 500 degrees F when you bake thermal barrier coatings and anti-friction coatings on them. Their domes operate at more than double this temperature while the engine is operating. I'd think forged aluminum wheels would be able to handle the same types of temps, however powdercoating typically cures at 390 degrees F. But you can actually cure it at 250 degrees F but for much longer time. We powdercoat all kinds of steel and aluminum wheels at work all the time with no issues whether they are forged, cast, pressure cast, 1, 2, or 3 piece, or even billet.

I don't disagree with your assertion as you make very good points. I would imagine BBS advises against re-powdercoating their wheels because inevitably, there will be some poor bloke who takes his wheels to a shop that bakes them at 400° F. while telling the customer they do it at 250° F.

I think I might call HRE tomorrow and ask about the differences between forged pistons and wheels since I'm quite curious now.
