Want a spare tire??? LOOK HERE!!!

ok, so we have had a ton of people asking about spare tires. Yes its true the Veloster does not have one, but there are some solutions. One of those solutions is the Spare tire kit that you can get from the dealership for the UD/MD Elantra (2011/12)

MTD has provided up with information from his own personal car.

are there other options...possible, but for now this works. IF you have any questions PLEASE post them in here and DO NOT make a new thread.

here is the picture and the part information

My spare tire? 5 years of roadside assistance. Maybe they'll give me a free one to get me to stop.

Here is a few ebay links too.

Someone reported that the Elantra foam doesnt quite fit and the trunk floor of the Veloster doesnt lie flat. I assume that the Veloster floor and well isnt as deep.

This might be a better substitute though.

Also note that really any universal type steel wheel from Costco, Walmart, Sears, etc should fit.

    15" diameter, 5x114.3, 67.1 hub bore and 40-50 offset.

The steel wheels I use for winter on my Elantra are generic made in China and the fit without any issues.

The roadside assistance won't use the tire repair kit to fix a flat tire. I also own a Triathalon Grey with MT and checked this out already.

I purchased the Elantra tire and kit. The foam kit did not fit in the back of the Veloster. It sits too high for the cover to come back on it. You could whittle it down, but I found it easier to just wrap the parts in foam packing material and stuff it where it wouldn't rattle.

Has anyone else had this same problem? Maybe they gave me the wrong part...

So are they going to bring a tire with them when they come to assist?

What type of spare comes in the Canadian Veloster? Do Canadian dealers sell them separately? If so, I just might buy one the next time I'm up north.

That's what I was thinking. And then I thought, "Why didn't they just give us the donut and let *us* decide if we want to drive around with it?"

I am going to get one, but I'll probably only put it in the car when I take longer trips, or at night. I could leave it out of the car for normal week-day commuting which takes place in daylight hours when the tire stores would be opened. Sheesh...

How much of a hit do you guys think the MPG would take when driving with the spare in the trunk?

I just look at it this way. I had a 97' Saturn for 8 years and put on about 65k miles without ever needing the doughnut. It's a good thing, too, since I had a couple of 12's in a big sealed box sitting on top of it.

I am definately getting a spare when I get mine. I've had 3 flats in less than 2 years. Most recent this past weekend.

I have a donut from a 2003 Sonata... I may be trading in the Sonata for a new V... I wonder if I should hang onto the donut?... would it fit on the V if I ever needed it??

In 9 years I have not had a flat and never had to use it, but If I dont have it?... you can bet I'll need it! haha!

cant believe they dont include a donut!!....

Others are saying the Elantrat Kit styrofoam won't allow the floor plate on the hatch to set in place. Did you have that problem?

The foam is apparently too think so the "floor" of the truck doesnt sit flush. There are other Hyundai kits that come in a bag instead of the foam that could be used instead.
