Mike, I'm pretty sure there is a post on here somewhere showing the hood with the cover removed. I'll see if I can find it. If not, I'll do it tonight and post up. You want detailed pictures of how the existing fake vents clip to the hood, correct?

If someone can dig that up, it would be really helpful.

    Functioning Hood Vents?

I almost want to just cut out the metal brackets behind them -_-

That sounds like it'd be a bad idea. They look like they're support brace.

Also, this would also require the removal of the heat/sound barrier.

Yeah I wouldn't actually have the balls to do it unless someone did it before me. The vents definantly won't be expelling much heat either though.

I posted pictures of mine when I was tucking my stripes under them. I'll have to whip up something tonight with the stock vents. The metal doesn't support anything. I'll take pictures later today.

May as well find a way to remove them when installing real vents then.

I would take a pair. "Carbon" not necessary, I'm looking for Function over Form.

Even if they aren't specifically functional - a mesh vent would look better than the solid plastic ones.

I'd be ok with a plastic diamond shape

something like http://www.jbcarpages.com/chevrolet/...icture (8).jpg or if they were slats like the front grill

the vents in the pic of the gen coupe look great, something just like that would look very nice. if would be nice if they could be designed to have a water drain on them so we dont have water dumping directly onto the engine and accesories when it pours down.
