Hadn't known (learn something every day) that the veloster apparently allows the use of fogs with parking lights on.

    Whoda thunk.

Every Hyundai I've owned wouldn't let you use the fogs without the headlights being on. I haven't checked if my VT fogs are on with the parking lights though...

One problem still. Your fog lights are NOT auxillary lamps. They come with the car, not an add-on. Your best bet would still be the Phillips 4 LED or 8 LED (work GREAT as DRLs)

Remember, the stuff that originally comes on the car is designed to be LEGAL in all 50 states. Muck with it and you can find yourself spending BIG dollar$ and changing it back under a court order.

I second that. It would be great to be have the LED strip and marker lights as the DRL setup. They don't throw much light, but neither do the low-power high beams. I want to install HID high beams, but can't since they wouldn't run at the reduced power.

Since I can't find any info on how to change this (LED strip is very tightly hidden in the headlight assembly) it seems that it's not possible - yet. Always hoping that someone will figure out the mystery and share it with the rest of us.

This car could look so much better...the current DRLs kill the look of it IMHO.

I would find the fog fuse and piggy back that into a empty fuse or something that comes on withe the car. When you turn on your highs, they go off. when you turn on your running lights, they wont come on. BUT if you put the fog lights through a different fuse that stays on, boom. lights.

OK, everyone still keeps missing that one little problem in most (if not all )states:

    IT'S NOT LEGAL!

And, since the cars don't come set this way from the factory, if you get stopped by LEO who knows the law, he may be able to impound your illegally modified vehicle.

Do you REALLy want to take that chance?

    Really?

    Ford Sport Trac, independent fogs.

    Ford Focus (2012+) independent fogs.

Audi A4/S4 (as far back as B7 I believe) also run independent fogs...

Cars may or may not come from factory with this ability BUT car companies don't follow state guidelines for such things...they follow NHTSA guidelines.

Find me the officer or inspection officer that would cite this as a modification/crime. Please. Do so.

You're acting as if I'm tampering my car to make it worse.

As undirected as our fogs are they make for some damn decent DRL substitutes as the role for DRL systems is to simply let people know you're on the road.

Also if you have a problem with it them you're free to unsubscribe from this thread but please don't **** on the parade of those that want to pursue this thank you very much.

when you have your high beams on, no on is in front of you so....who cares if you have 3 sets of hids blinding the road. You can see! A lot of people around me have there fogs and running lights on at the same time. I can see them and I think its safer to be honest. I keep my lights on 24/7 sun or dark.

I know that in MA it is illegal to have fog lights on in other than bad weather. A no-no on clear nights. Driving lights and high beams are illegal in most cities in MA.

    Honda doesn't, Hyundai doesn't, BMW doesn't, Mercedes doesn't, Subaru doesn't, Buick doesn't, Porsche doesn't, Nissan doesn't, Infinity doesn't, Acura doesn't.

However, with further checking this one seems to ENTIRELY depend on the state. Which means, of course, if you modify and are legal you might find your car impounded in another state.

it doesnt look like projector headlights. it looks like he installed angel eyes. Maybe he retrofitted them , but at least they are not the stock KDM projector headlights for sure.

Europeans have the OEM strip and circle eye as DRL's. They have an extra pin in their head light for that. That means you'd have to mess with the computer to not have the high beams on at low power.

exled has changed the strip many times to use with their LED strip in that area. Involves opening the light and unscrewing a LOT of screws.

My 2010 Mustang had this ability right from the factory.

Diode Dynamics made a relay for Tiburons...maybe they'll work one up for us.

I don't think the issue is the relay. All you have to do is supply ground to 1 lead and the fog lights will go on. See my previous post on page 1. The stock switch will not supply ground unless the lights are on. So I think one would have to take apart the stock switch setup and re-wire - seemed like a lot of work when I looked into it. That is why I came up with my solution which is still working well for almost 7 months now and I use often.

DD solution for the Tib didn't need an extra switch.

Flip parking lights on, hit OEM fog switch, fogs come on. No aftermarket switch needed.

Not claiming I know how to do it better, but maybe the anytime fog mod from DD is a start...
